Proprietary driver install for Alfa AWUS036NH usb wifi adapter

I got my Mint 19.3 box setup and I’ve run into a common problem. I would like to use my Alfa AWUS036NH usb wifi adapter (product page). Alfa has 2 linux drivers available. I’m unsure which one to pick from their download page: https://files.alfa.com.tw/?dir=%5B1%5D% . 36NH/Linux. After installation, I updated everything. Still unsure how to install a proprietary driver. Can anyone point me towards a source of info to help me out? Should I wait for another kernel release? Thanks to all. I like Linux more and more everyday.

your adapter should run «out of the box», because it is supported by the kernel driver rt2800usb. Have you tried it? If it doesn’t work, maybe there is another chipset, so please can you post the output of the following terminal commands:

these are the responses I get from both commands. I might add that when I plug the device in it shuts off wifi, sometimes. It is also listed as a wifi connection and says it is unavailable. Qualcomm Atheros QCA9565 / AR9565 Wireless Network Adapter is how it is identified. It seems it is supported, I don’t how to make it active.
