The 6 Best All-In-One Printers — Summer 2023 Reviews
Whether you need a printer for a professional office environment or for your family, all-in-one printers are a great solution to meeting the needs of many with a single machine. While they can all do the same things, like printing and scanning, some have features that can make tasks significantly easier, like an automatic document feeder. The cartridge system is also important to consider when shopping for a printer, as an inadequate one means you have to replace the cartridges more often, and you end up spending more in the long run.
We’ve tested over 125 printers, and below are our recommendations for the best all-in-one printers you can buy. Also, check out our picks for the best photo printers, the best home printers, and the best wireless printers.
Best All-In-One Printer
Brother MFC-L8905CDW
The best all-in-one printer we’ve tested is the Brother MFC-L8905CDW, a color laser model. It produces amazingly sharp documents, prints quickly at up to 32 pages per minute, and doesn’t need much maintenance. Connectivity options include USB, Wi-Fi, and Ethernet, and you can also print directly from a USB flash drive. Its ADF-equipped scanner scans quickly and supports single-pass duplex scanning, making it a great choice for offices that regularly scan multi-page or double-sided documents. Its toner cartridges yield thousands of prints, making it cheap to maintain, and although you have to replace the drum separately, you won’t have to do it too often as it’s usually good for 30,000 prints. Like most printers, the MFC-8905CDW has a few variants with slightly different features. For example, the cheaper Brother MFC-L8610CDW variant has a smaller display and flatbed scanner and doesn’t support NFC and duplex scanning. You still get the same performance printing-wise; you just lose a few features—more details in the full review. As you may already know, laser printers aren’t ideal for photo printing, and the MFC-8905CDW is no different. Printed pictures look dull and low-resolution, with a visible printing pattern. For photo printing, we recommend the Epson EcoTank Photo ET-8550, an all-in-one supertank inkjet model. It prints detailed and colorful photos and supports various paper sizes up to 13″ x 19″. A full ink tank gets you thousands of prints, and the ink bottles are cheap, so you don’t need to worry about high maintenance costs. There are a couple of tradeoffs, like the lack of an automatic feeder, slower printing speed, and a higher price tag. If cost is a concern, you can choose the cheaper Epson EcoTank Photo ET-8500 variant, which performs identically but only supports paper sizes up to 8.5″ x 11″.

HP Color LaserJet Professional CP5225n Printer
HP has come a long way in printers. This one has impressive resolution and good color. It also works with 11×17 paper. As an engineer, this was a must. There are a few things you might consider: the printer cannot scan, it works over hard wire to a LAN and the second paper holder is not a tray, it is a fold out holder that works very well. On the plus side, the printer is very fast. You should consider buying the HP Support monthly plan since I’ve had great support via the telephone. HP knows the driver you should download, FYI.
HP Color LaserJet Enterprise M653x
Prints very well on plain paper and cardstock. On glossy, prints too flat. Best printer ever is the Xerox Phaser 6700. Wish someone would use that technology.
HP Color LaserJet Enterprise M751dn
Beautiful and Speedy. Beware, she does not connect to WIFI which I didn’t even think still existed but I forgive because the actual prints are great!
