Try Fusion-360 by installing on Ubuntu 20.04 LTS Linux using Wine
“Fusion 360” is a CAD / CAM program from Autodesk, which is known for 3D modeling software. Although it is a paid graphic design software, students and schoolchildren can download the professional program for Windows and Mac free of charge. With this professional tool, you can design mechanical components and master a wide variety of tasks in product design. You can render your drafts, create animations, and – thanks to cloud support – helps to work in collaboration.
In addition, “Fusion 360” also offers to manage and view your models on a smartphone along with the integrated 3D printing utility. However, sadly it is only available for Windows and macOS users, hence we cannot install Fusion 360 natively on Linux systems such as Ubuntu. Nevertheless, if your Linux system supports the hardware requirements of this designing software then Wine could help you.
Note: This tutorial doesn’t give a 100% guarantee that Fusion 360 will work perfectly, however, in our case, it did to some extent. Hence, one can try it because it is quite simple to install Fusion 360 on Linux Ubuntu 20.04 with this tutorial.
Minimum Fusion-360 System requirements:
• 4 GB of RAM
• 1GB GPU
• 3 GB of free storage
• x86-based 64-bit processor with 4 cores, 1.7 GHz or greater
• 1920 x 1080 or greater display resolution

🗒 What is Autodesk Fusion 360?
Autodesk Fusion 360 is a cloud-based 3D modeling, CAD, CAM, CAE, and PCB software platform for product design and manufacturing that offers an affordable, powerful alternative to other well-known solutions on the market. ⚗️ 🔭 🔬 🔩 🛠
⚠️ But the problem is that it usually only works on systems that have Windows or macOS installed as the operating system. ⚠️
⛔️ However, I do not use either of these two operating systems on my devices! ⛔️
🐧 I’m using a Linux distribution such as openSUSE Tumbleweed and needed a solution to this problem. 🐧
🔍 I started looking at different tools, testing different approaches and ideas until I chose Wine. 🔍
🍷 Wine (originally an acronym for «Wine Is Not an Emulator») is a compatibility layer capable of running Windows applications on several POSIX-compliant operating systems, such as Linux, macOS, & BSD. Instead of simulating internal Windows logic like a virtual machine or emulator, Wine translates Windows API calls into POSIX calls on-the-fly, eliminating the performance and memory penalties of other methods and allowing you to cleanly integrate Windows applications into your desktop. 🍷
🪄 And so, with this nice tool, we no longer need two operating systems for Fusion 360 if you or I want to create an awesome project in the future. 🪄
💡 Is this a good idea for the future of Autodesk Fusion 360? 💡
🚀 I personally like this idea and for that reason I will do my best to give you the possibility to use it on Linux too! 🚀

📖 What else is there to consider when it comes to the requirements?
🔹 Check the Health Dashboard!
🔹 You must have installed the latest graphics driver!
🔹 You need the latest version of wine (6.23 and newer) and winetricks! Installing yad is also recomended to resolve potential instalation issues.
🧩 And would you like to use extra functions or languages as like the Czech language later in Autodesk Fusion 360, then you need a special extension what you must have bought and downloaded before you can install this with my Setup Wizard! 🧩
🔹 Check my GitHub-Documentation & Videos before you install Autodesk Fusion 360 on your system!
🔹 Check, if your network settings are correctly configured!
🔹 Check, if your system meets all requirements!
🔹 You need an active Fusion 360 license!
🔹 Open a terminal and run this command:
mkdir -p "$HOME/.fusion360/bin" && cd "$HOME/.fusion360/bin" && wget -N https://raw.githubusercontent.com/cryinkfly/Autodesk-Fusion-360-for-Linux/main/files/builds/stable-branch/bin/install.sh && chmod +x install.sh && ./install.sh
🔹 Currently, Fusion 360 for Linux is broken. Autodesk requires your browser to open to a page to log in to Fusion 360, but we do not yet have a way to open the link in a browser. Please bear with us as we research and develop a solution. In the meantime, you can use this command to install Fusion 360 for Linux with an older version of Fusion 360 that does not require browser sign-in:
mkdir -p "$HOME/.fusion360/bin" && cd "$HOME/.fusion360/bin" && wget -N https://raw.githubusercontent.com/alextrical/Autodesk-Fusion-360-for-Linux/main/files/builds/stable-branch/bin/install.sh && chmod +x install.sh && ./install.sh
🔹 Or you install and use Autodesk Fusion 360 as a Flatpak app:
https://usebottles.com/app/#fusion360
🔹 Now, You can use Autodesk Fusion 360 on your Linux system!
📖 Which script releases are available?
There are some script releases available, built from the release targets. It’s recommended that if you’re new you start with the stable builds. Development builds are available here if you need it, but correspondingly may be less stable. In the development branch you will find, for example, the upcoming versions of my setup wizard, as well as builds that run with the help of Flatpak or Docker/Podman.
