Audi MMI 3G bluetooth activation

Activate Audi MMI 3G bluetooth connection and handsfree profile in your car. All Audis with Multi Media Interface 3rd generation are equipped with bluetooth, some just need activation which you can do for free, without adding any hardware.

• Diagnostic interface like VCDS, VAG-COM, VAS or any other that’s capable of performing coding and adaptation procedures.

Preparation

• You car need to have MMI 3G system. Check your Multi Media Interface version.
  Check this article: Audi navigation systems – MMI RNS BNS RMC differences.
• Hidden menu must be enabled.
  Check this article: Enable MMI hidden green menu (2G, 3G, 3G+).

Audi MMI 3G bluetooth activation procedure

1. Turn key into II position and wait for the MMI 3G system to start. You can also use keyless buttons.
2. Press and hold buttons SETUP and CAR.
3. After couple of seconds hidden green menu will appear. You can now release the buttons.
4. Navigate to diagnose → settings → Tel settings misc.
5. Check current value in this line and switch to value with “BT/HFP” instead of “no BT/no HFP”.
6. Press RETURN and CAR buttons at the same time to exit hidden green menu.
7. Restart MMI 3G with key combination from article Audi MMI force restart (2G, 3G, 3G+).

1. Connect with module 5F – Control Head.
2. Choose procedure 10 – Adaptation.
3. Choose Channel 17 and read stored value (should be 0).
4. Enter new value: 1
5. Save new adaptation value.
6. Exit.

Hi. I have an issue with my Bluetooth. It used to work but it just stopped working some time ago. I cannot connect the phone (any type of phone) to the car anymore. My firmware is quite old, BBT_EU_P0020_D1 and I read that there is a problem with this firmware, someone wrote in a forum that it should be updated using the firmware P0020_ADJBK_FIX. I couldn’t find this version anywhere. Do you have it? Thanks.

Sorry, no information about that fix. But start with checking fuses. Sometimes just phone module is not powered so it does not work.

However, seem the mic does not worked. People cannot hear what I said. Do I need to activate the mic as well?

I have A6 Allroad 2009 facelift with MMI 3G basic and AMI. Bluetooth connection OK and can make calls, only people don’t hear me. Audi also have GALA and it is active. From hidden menu i can’t find any mics. Do i have to pay for new microphones, and if it so, what kind of mics?

Hi Done the green menu etc. But when you in phone menu it’s says do you wish to activate Bluetooth you choose yes and goes to Bluetooth menu. Which is greyed out and set to off with no way to turn on. Is there somewhere this needs turning on?

Hi I followed all the steps and was able to make the Bluetooth option available. It tries to search for devices but fails and automatically enters the bluetooth settings menu, it is here where I run into issues as the options to turn the Bluetooth on and off are greyed out. Do I need a firmware upgrade?

I finally managed to connect my phone to the car’s bluetooth. I can clearly hear what the others say by connecting to the bluetooth. However, the others just can’t hear any sound from my side. When I changed it back to the mobile phone speaker, the other side can hear. Should I assume my mic in the car is not working or there should be any setting that can activate my mic in car? I have a 2009 Audi A4 with a colored center display with DVD nav ( system in the trunk). MMI controls are in between center armrest and gear selector. Says “Audi CD changer” above the 6 cd disc changer on the center stash. Not sure if this is a 3G system. I know that right now my car does phone call capabilities and does connect with my phone, but I wasn’t sure if it was also capable of media streaming for Spotify and other media streaming services.

I believe I have MMI 3g basic (not sure!) without NAV and I also have AMI in the glove compartment.
When I try to set up the BT handsfree it says “Telephone is not installed” and I can’t find it with my iPhone in the BT devices list.
Does this mean I have to activate it with coding/following the guide above?
