Belkin unveils Wireless USB hub
Flash drives, printers, external HDDs accessed over

Belkin’s Wireless USB Hub: USB-over-next-gen Wi-Fi
The unit’s specifications and look have changed a bit since we reported on the prototype. Originally intended to be a shiny black slab of a product, the better to tie in with Belkin’s N1 802.11n next-gen Wi-Fi router, the Wireless USB Hub has been tweaked to look at home with the N1 Vision Belkin announced last week.
But — and here’s the crucial point, and one we missed earlier, ahem — the wireless is Wireless USB, not Wi-Fi.
The hub connects wireless to a add-in Wireless USB dongle that comes bundled with the product and which you connect to your PC. Then you can send documents to a connected printer or back-up files to an external hard drive, all as if they were connected directly to said computer. Belkin claimed it operates at distances of up to 30ft.

The Wireless USB Hub goes on sale late August, Belkin said, for $200. The European roll-out will follow soon after, the company said.
Setting up the Belkin Wi-Fi Range Extender wirelessly
The Belkin Wi-Fi Range Extenders are devices that act as repeaters for the router’s wireless signal. T hey can be set up without using cables and wires. The steps below will guide you on how to set up your range extender wirelessly .
Before you begin, ensure that you have the following:
NOTE: Details on the troubleshooting steps and images may vary depending on the wireless devices you are using. In the examples shown below, an iPad Air® was used to set up a Belkin Dual-Band Wireless Range Extender.
1. Plug your range extender into a power outlet that is within the range of your router’s wireless network.
2. Using your WiFi-capable device, locate and connect to the Belkin.setup network.
NOTE: If you are unable to see this network, you may need to reset the range extender. To do this, simply press the range extender’s reset button for at least 10 seconds while it is turned ON. Power cycle the range extender then connect to the network again.
3. Launch a browser and enter «http://belkin.range» in the Address bar then tap Go. You can also enter «http://192.168.206.1» in the Address bar to access the range extender’s web-based setup page.
5. Select the wireless network you want to extend. Tap Next once done.
NOTE: Click Refresh if your network is not on the list.
7. If you have a dual-band network, select the second wireless network you want to extend then repeat Step 6. Tap Next once done.
NOTE: If you are using a single-band Belkin Wi-Fi Range Extender, it will only detect the 2.4 GHz band.
8. Review the Extended Network information. Tap Edit if the information needs to be changed. Otherwise, tap the Create Extended Network button to proceed with the setup.
Your extender is now configured. You will see your network settings on the screen, and you will have the option to print the information when needed.
