Remote Bluetooth shutter not responding when HDMI adapter is plugged in
Hi. i’ve been auditioning different camera apps all year, and with each one i’ve tried, my remote Bluetooth camera shutter button stops responding as soon as i have my HDMI adapter plugged into the lightning port (and am beaming the image out to a monitor). It’s not the button; i have tried four different buttons, and they all stop functioning.
i really need to be able to see my work on a monitor, because the phone’s screen is too small for me to catch focus issues, or stray hairs or lint on the items i’m shooting.
i’ve noticed that the shutter button + adapter combo works fine when i use the iPhone’s native Camera app, but that app lacks features that are important to me, like manual white balance.
Has Apple locked its developers out of this functionality (Bluetooth + HDMI out), or is it a simple bug fix that i can reasonably request camera app developers make?

iPhone 11 as a secondary camera for zoom- not changing orientation I’m having an issue with my iPhone 11 not adjusting the orientation during a zoom presentation where the phone is being used as a secondary camera ( aka shared screen). If I go to any other app on the phone, the orientation adjusts, and reflects the adjustment on my zoom presentation, but I switch back to camera mode and I automatically get portrait. to be clear, the phone shows the change in orientation, but it doesn’t reflect on the zoom platform as such. Multicam angles not showing Hello,I am experiencing a new issue with multicam not working properly. I have edited these clips sucessfully before upgrading fcp. Not sure if the issues were caused by the upgrade. When selecting «show 2 angles» I get a single blank screen. When I double click on the clip I see that both angles are there but locked with lines across the timeline.Any idea how to fix this issue and get multicam working again? Many ThanksMatt
Unresponsive devices in HomeKit Hi I got a Legrand Valena Life gateway recently to control the rolling shutters using Siri, but both the smart power outlet and the rolling shutters switch appear as unresponsive in HomeKit. They work fine if I use the Home + Control app of Legrand though. I have restarted the mini pod (hub), the iPhone, there appears to be no newer update to install, so what more is there to do in order to get them work in HomeKit as well? Thank you
Bluetooth shutter not working
I got a cheap bluetooth shutter button from Amazon that’s primarily designed for mobile devices hoping i could get it working as a smart button for a raspberry pi. I’ve tested the button itself on both iOS and Windows devices, and it works fine for either of those, but for some reason it refuses to connect to a pi. I’ve tried it on both the pi zero w and the pi 3b+ under Raspberry Pi OS and the 3b+ again using ubuntu server, but i get the same error message everywhere after trying to connect using bluetoothctl:
Dec 04 23:42:10 ubuntu bluetoothd[1700]: Can't get HIDP connection info Dec 04 23:42:11 ubuntu bluetoothd[1700]: connect error: Invalid exchange (52)
Is what I’m trying to do even possible?
If it is, should I buy a different button?
Does anyone have a bluetooth shutter button they can recommend for this purpose?
Re: bluetooth shutter button won’t pair
This may be because you have already paired the device with another operating system using the same bluetooth adapter (e.g., dual-booting). Some devices can’t handle multiple pairings associated with the same MAC address (i.e., bluetooth adapter). You can fix this by re-pairing the device
So please re-pair your device with this commands (Or you can use GUI method):
bluetoothctl
Then use this commands to show paired devices:
devices
And this should be have some output like this:
Device XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX Device Name
Then remove paired devices with this command:
remove XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX
And restart Bluetooth service:
sudo service bluetooth restart
Then try to pair device again.

Re: bluetooth shutter button won’t pair
Do you need to connect with it in bluetoothctl? The shutter button is acting as a Bluetooth keyboard, and it is my understanding that the OS handles the connection in this case.
I’ve got one on order; more in a few days.
Re: bluetooth shutter button won’t pair
I’m pretty sure it’s not still paired to another device because the light on it flashes when it’s in pairing mode. I’m using bluetoothctl because i’m using Raspbian Lite but i’ve also tried it with the full OS using the GUI. Either way I get the same error in the syslog.

Re: bluetooth shutter button won’t pair
My ‘shutter remote’ just arrived. I got this one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B084VTFS4X/re . 0FbJY8DJRK. Just $7, and it came with an extra battery, which I thought was nice.
What it is, actually, is a tiny (one key) Bluetooth keyboard. That one key is a media key, VOLUME_UP. I guess Android and iOS phones will accept this key as a shutter press. A little bit of code will let you use it for anything on the Raspberry Pi. First I installed the Python keyboard module with
sudo pip3 install keyboard
I found it simple to pair and trust the remote with bluetoothctl. It can also be connected in bluetoothctl, tho I’m not sure if that’s needed. Now, it will connect to the Pi whenever the remote is turned on.
Your Python code will look something like this:
import keyboard VOLUME_UP = 115 def do(): print("Button was pressed") while True: ev = keyboard.read_event() if ev.scan_code == VOLUME_UP and ev.event_type == keyboard.KEY_DOWN: do()
bluetooth shutter issue on iOS 9.2
After I upgrade to iOS 9.2, my bluetooth shutter on selfie stick does not work any more.
My other iPhone still on iOS 9.1 works fine.
It seems that iOS 9.2 has the bug or disable the bluetooth shutter.

I just had the chance to test a «MOCUTE» bluetooth controller with iOS 9.3.1.
This iCade-emulating device is not recognized as a bluetooth keyboard by iOS and thus does not work.
I have an issue where I have several blue tooth shutter buttons, and neither one of them works on my iPhone 6s.
Both shutter buttons still work on my iPhone 5S and worked both with IOS 9.1 and after the upgrade to IOS 9.2.
If you are having issues with an iPhone 6s, I think its back to the phone rather than the version of IOS.
Others apparently are having Bluetooth issues with the new iPhone 6s and the latest version of IOS (9.2) doesn’t appear to have fixed it.
Hopefully IOS 9.2.1 will address this, but I don’t know if it’s even on Apple’s list of issues for this release.
Update: I tried both of my Bluetooth shutters again and have more information:
Bluetooth Shutter #1: iCake Bluetooth Shutter (purchased recently from Amazon for ~$5) now pairs and works correctly on both my iPhone 5S and iPhone 6s. The battery on the shutter was weak before. Replacing it solved my intermittent pairing problem. It now pairs to either phone and operates the shutter when the camera is on. This shutter shows up as «MW-302» under the list of paired Bluetooth devices.
Bluetooth Shutter #2: Wireless One Explorer Pro (purchased ~1.5 years ago as part of a selfie stick combination). This unit now pairs with both iPhones, however, the shutter button will only trigger the camera on the iPhone 5S. Even through the shutter pairs with the iPhone 6S, the shutter never fires when the button is pressed. Changing the battery on this one made no difference. Note that this shutter button is first recognized as a «keyboard» when paired with the phone, but then later shows up as «Explorer Pro» under the list of paired Bluetooth devices.
So it seems that not all shutter buttons are communicating in the same way with the phone and there is still a difference in the way the iPhone 5S and iPhone 6s interpret the signal from the Bluetooth shutter.
Bluetooth shutter not working
Filmic Pro is a popular film making tool for iOS and Android that allows the filmmaker to have total control over the camera’s functionality.
Hey guys, first time poster here, and I’m a facing a minor problem.
I’m doing some shooting on my iPhone with FilmicPro, and most of the time I’m on my own so the small Bluetooth remote control shutter I have is extremely helpful, especially when I’m filming myself. The problem is when I plug in my external microphone.
When I first plugged it in (using the Apple lightning adapter) a message came up asking if I was connecting a pair of headphones. I clicked the “other device” option. However, from then on my remote control stops controlling the record button and instead only increases the volume on my phone. The volume level, to the left of the screen, now has an icon of headphones accompanied with it rather than the typical audio symbol. The “Volume Keys Trigger Recording” option in Device also becomes unavailable. The only way for me to start recording is by clicking the actual record button on the phone — like I said its not a huge issue.
The remote still controls the capturing/recording on my actual camera app correctly still. As soon as I unplug the mic, the remote can once again control the record button. Does anyone know why this is? Your help and knowledge will be much appreciated!
If its relevant, I’m using the iPhone 7, Boya BY-MM1 Microphone (w/ 3.5mm TRRS audio output cable it came with) and a little Bluetooth Remote Shutter which works with both IOS and Android. If it simply won’t work with FilmicPro could anyone recommend a remote shutter that can? I have heard of the Filmic Remote App, but I think I need a second device.
