WiFi – How to Install Broadcom BCM43142 Drivers in Fedora 27

Yesterday, I installed Fedora 27 on my Laptop, and I realised that it doesn’t recognize my Laptop’s, WiFi Card.

So, Here’s a quick tutorial to install Broadcom BCM43142 WiFi drivers in Fedora 27.

To find which model of WiFi card your machine uses, type following command in terminal. And press Enter.

After entering following command, you will see an output on the screen, Something like this:

In this output, at last line, you’ll see something like Network controller: The text after Network Controller is the name of your machines Network Card manufacturer and network card Model Number.

1. System Update

If any updates are found, enter y to download and install updates.

2. Enable Non-Free repository.

For enabling non-free repository, we will be using RPM Fusion.

As I have done a fresh installation of Fedora 27, I will be installing both free and non-free repositories.

3. System update

After enabling Free and Non-Free repositories, we again need to update our system.

4. Install WiFi Drivers

5. Restart

After installing WiFi card drivers, we need to restart the system. Close all running applications, except terminal to restart the system.

After restarting the system, Broadcom WiFi card drivers should be installed.
