Can you connect one bluetooth to two phones

Pair two Bluetooth devices simultaneously

AFAIK, bluetooth connections can occur simultaneously as long as their operational bounds do not overlap. In other words, you cannot connect two bluetooth headsets at the same time , but you can connect a bluetooth keyboard and bluetooth mouse to the same device at the same time (I personally have tested this last scenario, and it works!)

According to the Android Developers you can indeed It seems to be the case than an Android tablet can connect with multiple Bluetooth devices sending data only, but Bluetooth devices that can also receive data will only pair with one device. But, I also want to be able to use google assistant voice commands, and take and make phone calls as needed, and I do not want the phone call to go over the bike speakers.

Pair two Bluetooth devices simultaneously

I am building an app for an Android tablet that will control an Arduino microcontroller board (paired via bluetooth). However, the tablet will also be paired via Bluetooth with my android phone to share the phone’s internet connection. Can I pair the devices this way simultaneously?

AFAIK, bluetooth connections can occur simultaneously as long as their operational bounds do not overlap. In other words, you cannot connect two bluetooth headsets at the same time, but you can connect a bluetooth keyboard and bluetooth mouse to the same device at the same time (I personally have tested this last scenario, and it works!)

So in your case, I assume the steps you would take would include making sure that the two communication streams don’t require any of the same functionality, which sounds as if it would be possible, since one is strictly for internet availability. If you connect both and they won’t pair with the device simultaneously, you probably won’t be able to. But if they register as different types of devices (under different bluetooth «profiles», for example) you may be in luck!

Sorry there’s nothing definitive. The bottom line here may be trial and error. If they don’t work initially, you may be able to set up the Arduino to register under a different «profile» when it connects to the tablet, so as not to interfere with the internet connection coming from the phone.

Some devices have a concurrent connection limit due to power/resource constraints (usually cheap feature phones like my old SEMC W880i only allowed up to 5 connections at a time). Also some apps like bluetooth file transfer can be set up to limit max simultaneous connections. Generally, Android’s bluetooth implementation does not force such a limit though. I’ve been able to use bluetooth keyboard, mouse, game controller and a headset the same time. Bluetooth internet sharing capability depends on your device though, not every handset/tablet maker implements this (most aftermarket roms support this however).

Bluetooth — How can I connect multiple wireless, While it is true that there is no built-in supported method for an iPhone to connect to multiple sets of bluetooth speakers, it is possible to do so. You would need to get an additional device, a Bluetooth splitter. They generally plug in to the headphone jack, and will connect to at least 2 devices.

Is it possible to use 2 Bluetooth Unidirectional devices simultaneously?

Is it possible to pair (and use) both a microphone-only and a speaker-only Bluetooth devices so that they can be used instead of the built-in mic/speaker in the phone?

If so, can you point to where I can find more information about how to accomplish that?

I haven’t tested this specific case myself. The answer might depend on what you might want to do with the mic-only and speaker-only bluetooth device .

How multiple bluetooth devices work with a single android phone:

The android phone provide you with two types to bluetooth profiles to connect to — Phone and Media. Long press on the device listing in the ‘Bluetooth Settings’, click on options and you can select which profile your bluetooth device should connect to.

The mono hands-free bluetooth headsets can connect to just the phone audio . The mono headset’s options in android will not even list the ‘Media’ profile. The stereo bluetooth headsets can connect to both phone and media profiles. You will find both ‘Phone’ and ‘Media’ options for stereo headsets.

An android phone can be actively connected at a time to maximum of 2 devices. One device(Device1) will be connected to the ‘Phone’ and the other(Device2) will be connected to the ‘Media’. All your phone calls will be routed to Device1 and all your music will be routed to Device2. But 2 devices cannot be connected to the same profile at the same time. I have tested this with my 2 stereo bluetooth headsets.

Your request : Connect a mic-only and a speaker-only device to the phone at the same time.

What will not work: If you want to use it in a phone call so that you can speak through the mic-only device and hear through the speaker-only device, it will not work. Only one device can be connected to the ‘Phone’ audio at any point of time. For both devices to work together in a phone call they should both be using a phone audio which is not possible.

What might work: A mic-only device to ‘phone’ audio and a stereo bluetooth headphone to the ‘media’ audio might be possible, since both these devices would be connected to 2 different profiles.

Caveat: I don’t know if a mic-only device can be connected to an android device, in the first place. Since devices can either connect to the ‘Phone’ profile or ‘Media’ profile and both require speaker output at the other end, I am not sure how it would work. I am specifically curious about how a phone call would work when a mic-only device is connected to the phone profile. May be android would receive audio input from the bluetooth mic and send the audio output to the phone’s speaker. Maybe android will show a different profile for the mic-only bluetooth device. The problem is in android I don’t see a place where one can choose ‘Audio Input’ and ‘Audio Output’ devices like we do in a desktop OS. Mic-only bluetooth devices are used with cameras as shown in this video. I don’t know how they would connect and work with android devices.

It should be possible to do what you want. Try this: pair both of the devices with your phone, then go to Settings -> Wireless & networks -> Bluetooth Settings, and long-press on the paired device and select «Options». From there you can choose which service you’d like for this particular device.

I have just done this. I have a bluetooth compatible stereo on my Road Glide (Harley) and I like to stream my music through those speakers. But, I also want to be able to use google assistant voice commands, and take and make phone calls as needed, and I do not want the phone call to go over the bike speakers.

I set the H-D radio to media only, and set my Produtrend bluetooth device to phone call only. I connect to my bike first, then turn on the Produtrend device. The produtrend device has a 3.5 mm jack for connecting speakers (which i have in my helmet) or ear buds. I was able to listen to pandora on my bike, and then make a phone call which was heard through my in-helmet speakers. Worked perfectly.

I hope this info can be adapted to your situation Cheers

Can you connect two or more controllers?

Is it possible to connect two or more bluetooth controllers to one android tablet ? I am wanting to emulate some games that are four players and I want to know if three friends and I can all play together?

This is a bit of an opinionated, and caveated answer.

According to the Android Developers you can indeed

It seems to be the case than an Android tablet can connect with multiple Bluetooth devices sending data only, but Bluetooth devices that can also receive data will only pair with one device.

Galaxy Tab
Nexus 9
Nexus 7
Galaxy S5 (phone not tablet obviously)
Nexus 10
Galaxy Note

It only allows one controller and disconnects the others. We had some patchy performance with two working, but Bluetooth is not a good technology for multiple connections like this.

You certainly can contact up too 4 controllers simultaneously but the way I achieved this was with a rooted note 4 just install sixaxis and there is support for multi play. I hdmi into tv and vs my mates with ps3 controllers (work best, even non genuin) also if you are using emulators n64 emulators have multi support inbuilt but you still need sixaxis to connect through Bluetooth.

It’s perfectly possible with at least Android 6.1 and above to connect up to 4 bluetooth controllers.

Just pair the first controller, turn it off , pair the second controller — and turn the first on again.

How to Connect Your Bluetooth Headphones to More Than One Device at a Time

Bluetooth headphones are the future. The iPhone 7 dumped the headphone jack and, with USB-C becoming more popular, other manufacturers are likely to follow suit. And sure, the main advantage is that they get wires out of your way—but there’s another, often unrealized, benefit in a feature called “Multipoint”.

What Is Multipoint?

Wired headphones can only connect to one device at a time. Plug them into your computer, and you can only use them on your computer, until you unplug them and plug them into something else. That’s how headphones have always worked.

Many Bluetooth headphones, though, can connect to more than one device at a time thanks to a protocol called Multipoint. Not all headphones support it, but most mid- to high-end headphones from manufacturers like Bose, Sennheiser, Beats, and so on do. Even budget headphones from some manufacturers like Jabra have Multipoint. Not sure if your headphones support it? Google their model number with the word multipoint to find out.

How to Use Multipoint (Your Headphones May Vary)

To use Multipoint, you just need to connect your Headphones to More Than One Device —though this can be trickier than it sounds. Once I connected my Sennheiser Momentum 2.0s to my phone, for example, they stopped trying to connect to any other devices automatically. They’d just search for my phone every time I turned them on. For a while, I even thought Bluetooth on my Mac was broken because it could never find my headphones.

After digging through the Momentum’s instruction manual, I found that I had to put the headphones into “pair mode”. This involved holding a button down for five seconds. Once they were in pair mode, they could connect to new devices. It won’t be the same for every set of headphones, but if you think yours support Multipoint and your other devices won’t find them, have a look at the manual to see what you need to do to connect them to more than one device at once.

Once you’ve got your headphones connected to more than one device, say your phone and your computer, you’re ready to go. Your headphones will automatically swap between the two as needed. If you’re listening to music on your computer and a call comes through on your phone, the music will stop playing and the headphones will work for your phone. When you’re done, hang up, push play on your computer and you’ll be back jamming to the Bieb while you work.
