Cisco anyconnect no wifi adapter available

Cisco AnyConnect network adapter missing

At my workplace, we use the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client for working off-site (version 3.1.05160). I had installed an Ubuntu 14.04 VM through VirtualBox and was trying to set up connections for it so it could access the internet/networks through the Host machines connections (Host is Windows 7 Enterprise). My specific network connections are this: I connect to the internet using my college’s wifi, and then connect to my job’s VPN using the Cisco AnyConnect so I can access their network. Within the Ubuntu VM, I can get access to the internet as long as the VPN is disabled. Once I enable it though, I lose all connectivity. I had tried setting the VPN up within Ubuntu using Network Manager (and the network-manager-vpnc package) with no luck. I then attempted the bridging option suggested in this answer: https://superuser.com/a/553561/495437 (after trying the one above it). I managed to create a bridge between the VirtualBox-Host-Only and Cisco-VPN network adapters, but then began having issues trying to reconnect to the VPN. When I switched back to the network adapters view, I noticed the VPN adapter was grayed out and listed as «Disabled». I attempted to Enable it twice, after which nothing happened and then the adapter just disappeared altogether. Now, when I try to connect to the VPN with Cisco AnyConnect, I get two errors:

"The VPN client driver encountered an error. Please restart your computer or device, then try again.
AnyConnect was not able to establish a connection to the specified secure gateway. Please try connecting again.

I’ve already attemped the fix suggested everywhere to remove a portion of the Display Name within the registry, but mine hasn’t been modified (there’s nothing to remove in the suggested area). I’ve also restarted the computer and application with no luck. I have not yet tried reinstalling the Cisco application though, as this is a company owned laptop, and it had come pre-installed so I’m not sure if there were specific configurations done for it. Is there any way I can get the Network Adapter back, or some other way I can get the VPN fixed up and connecting again?

Отсутствует сетевой адаптер Cisco AnyConnect

"The VPN client driver encountered an error. Please restart your computer or device, then try again.
AnyConnect was not able to establish a connection to the specified secure gateway. Please try connecting again.

AnyConnect 4.4.02039 — Kills NAM Service / WiFi Won’t Connect

Me and 2 co-workers have been hammering away on this AnyConnect issue and CANNOT get this resolved. This is for an engineering director and is killing us.

Application: AnyConnect 4.4.02039

Problem Background and Description: Users AnyConnect will connect to our corporate network when on a wired connection. Cisco AnyConnect finds the wired network and fires right up. However, if I switch over to WiFi you will see on AnyConnect it attempt to connect, fail, attempt, fail, attempt fail, until it eventually says either Service Unavailable or sticks in an «Associating» loop. Also, if the Wifi adapter is enabled, AnyConnect will show that No Wifi Adapters Available. Also, after attempt to connect to wifi fails, it kills the Cisco AnyConnect NAM service.

The device WILL connect on wifi if it is out of range of our networks (similar to how VPN would work). The user can connect to home SSID and then VPN into network. However, no wireless works when he is at location.

We have done all of the obvious troubleshooting with disabling/enabling adapters, reinstalling, updating drivers, updating config file, updating corp wifi config file, netsh commands, flushdns, I confirmed name resolves correctly, compared advanced adapter settings to my own and matched all (same device/app/drivers).

It is as if there is some configuration stored somewhere that I cannot find. I am totally stuck. This is an engineer with mucho software that will not be fun to reinstall — so we are very much so trying to prevent a re-image.

Does anyone have any advice? I’m happy to provide any details or answer any questions.

WiFi issues with Cisco AnyConnect

I use Cisco AnyConnect on my Windows 7 computer to make VPN connections. It also has capability to connect to WiFi. But I always had problems in connecting toWiFi with AnyConnect. Connection drops frequently and it keeps saying ‘Acquiring IP address‘. AnyConnect installs a service called ‘Network Access Manager‘ which seems like takes over the native Windows WiFi connecting client. So when I click on the network icon in the System tray it says ‘No connections are available'(See below snapshot). Without AnyConnect, it always displays the WiFi connections available.

If you are facing the problem then you can try the following solution that worked for me.

  • Open Services management console by running Services.msc from Run
  • Find the service ‘Cisco AnyConnect Network Access Manager‘.
  • Right click and stop the service.
  • Now Cisco AnyConnect will say ‘NAM service unavailable
  • Now Windows will use the native WiFi client to connect to the WiFi
  • When you reboot your system, the NAM service will start and may cause problem again. You can disable this service in Services management console to prevent that.

AnyConnect has settings to disable the NAM feature. But that did not work for me. Even after disabling NAM service, I could not connect to WiFi. Windows network icon shows the WiFi connection but gives the error ‘Windows was not able to connect to…‘. I followed the below steps to do this.

  • Opened Anyconnect window and click on Advanced.
  • Clicked on ‘Networks’ tab in the left side pane.
  • Clicked on Configuration tab. Changed the NAM to disabled as shown below.
