(solved*) Unable to solve Davinci resolve- Unsupported GPU processing mode ERROR. With AMD graphics.

Greetings to the members of Linux community. (computer details with inxi -Fxxxrz at the end)

I am on single boot linux mint 20.2 cinnamon. 16GB ram
I recently moved from windows to Linux and everything has been brilliant except my problems with Davinci resolve, which is very important for my work, it used to work well in Windows 10 for me.
I installed Davinci resolve under the guidance of this video on youtube titled — Install Davinci Resolve 17 in Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Debian, and Its Based Distributions (2021) ; youtube channel name — Tiwo Satriatama
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nb7A6IaNds4
— this seems to work for several people in the comments of the video. I also tried searching for other answers.

I followed all the steps properly and was able to install Davinci resolve BUT whenever i start davinci resolve a window appears with title — Unsupported GPU Processing Mode ; and description — Please review the GPU drivers and GPU configuration under preferences.
I am given the options of ‘Update configuration’ or ‘Quit’.
https://ibb.co/MVkqqJx
https://ibb.co/2Scg6XD

When i click update configuration, it takes me to a preferences menu with several options. Is some problem in recognizing GPU?
https://ibb.co/ZSYYFR5
https://ibb.co/j4pSH4K
https://ibb.co/7YHXb2x

This is the only software i would need to leave windows forever.
Can someone help me understand and solve the problem? I hoped that davinci will atleast run on linux, even if slower. I have tried the other open source options like shotcut, olive, kdenlive and read several such suggestions, i do not dislike these but please understand that for certain reasons i must get davinci running or i would sadly need to get windows again.

I hope you are able to view the images. I had switched form win 10 to zorin os, then to linux mint hoping that the problem may get solved here. I hope it does.
Awaiting reply. Any help will be appreciated.
Sorry for any mistakes in the question.
Thank you.

Davinci resolve unsupported gpu processing mode linux

I am running Ubuntu 20.10 with the AMD GPUPro 20.45 drivers installed on the system. I have an RX 5700 XT graphics card. I am using the non studio version on DaVinci Resolve.

Re: DaVinci Resolve «Unsupported GPU Processing Mode» on Ubu

Upload the debug logs somewhere and post a link : $HOME/.local/share/DaVinciResolve/logs/ResolveDebug.txt

(new user can’t paste urls so . just add a space in the middle or something).

Oh so . gpu detection failed to find any GPU .

— You’re using Xorg and not Wayland right ?
— Can you post the output of `glxinfo` ?

Here you go! This is the entire output: https://pastebin.com/ g0dJLFft

Wayland is enabled on Ubuntu by default now, you want me to switch to Xorg?

Re: DaVinci Resolve «Unsupported GPU Processing Mode» on Ubu

Yeah, the AMD GPUPro 20.45 drivers are Xorg only AFAIK and they are required for resolve.

The glxinfo you pasted shows it’s using mesa stuff and not the AMD drivers.

Since the AMD drivers are not supported on Ubuntu 20.10 and I was too lazy to downgrade I did some major tinkering to get them to work and that is probably the reason why DaVinci doesn’t work at all. I guess I will have to downgrade to 20.4 after all.

Re: DaVinci Resolve «Unsupported GPU Processing Mode» on Ubu

Some people got those drivers to run even on other distros (arch / manjaro), but always using Xorg AFAIK.
