Dns probe finished bad config linux

DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_BAD_CONFIG in Xubuntu 17.04

I just installed Xubuntu 17.04 with me folder from old version of xubuntu. And when I connected to Access point (DHCP) it work few times when I visit some web pages but then I got error:

DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_BAD_CONFIG

I’ve fixed the issue by hard coding the nameserver to 8.8.8.8 (google dns I think) and it’s working but why the nameserver is my localhost? I’ve try to change connection to address only and add DNS servers in connection in network manger but the nameserver in resolve.conf is still my localhost, why? I probably will need to remove symlink and make real file with nameserver, but I want to know if there is better (simpler) solution for the issue I’m having and also why the nameserver is my localhost? UPDATE I’ve just deleted resolv.conf symlink with a file with hard coded nameserver but after reboot I’ve again get symlink (but to different file) but now with localhost 127.0.1.1 as nameserver. Anybody know how to make it permanent? UPDATE: when I call systemd-resolve —status I’ve got this in return:

Link 3 (wlp2s0) Current Scopes: DNS LLMNR/IPv4 LLMNR/IPv6 LLMNR setting: yes MulticastDNS setting: no DNSSEC setting: allow-downgrade DNSSEC supported: yes DNS Servers: 23.253.163.53 fe80::1
[43800.343513] wlp2s0: AP 64:3e:8c:66:cb:e4 tries to chanswitch to same channel, ignore [43800.343519] wlp2s0: cannot understand ECSA IE operating class 12, disconnecting

after this I’ve got more dns servers in systemd-resolve —status but when it reconnect (probably) then I’ve got the DNS error.

I keep getting DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_BAD_CONFIG error. How can I fix this? [closed]

I’ve seen this question and tried the answer at the bottom of the page yesterday and it seemed to work. But then I woke up today and had the same DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_BAD_CONFIG error for like over an hour. So then I tried that solution at the bottom again and it seems to have worked but just in case I created an account and am making this question. I also tried the answer with 26 likes but ran into a problem. I pasted sudo rm /etc/resolv.conf to my terminal and after typing in my password nothing happened. EDIT: The error happened again as I was trying to post this. I am now using a wired connection.

When I pasted ls /run/resolvconf/interface/ in the terminal I got NetworkManager. EDIT from comments: I have a modem from ubee, it’s DDW365 Everything from «127.0.0.1 localhost» to «ff02::2 ip6-allrouters» was what was within my hosts file.

Ubuntu DNS issue fix DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_BAD_CONFIG

Issue

I’ve been playing with a VPN and somehow it messed up my DNS resolution configurations. Chrome gives DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_BAD_CONFIG error and can’t ping google. So it seemed to be an issue with the DNS. Of course, restarting didn’t fix it.

I tried DNS lookup which gave me below.

To make sure this is somehting to do with my DNS confgis, I ran the same by providing the google DNS servers.

It works, which means my default DNS is not working for some reason.

Fix

3. Restart the systemd-resolved and check the configuration is persisted in /run/systemd/resolve/resolv.conf file.

Install Docker on Windows 11 with WSL Ubuntu 22.04

This is to install Docker within Ubuntu WSL without using the Windows Docker application. Follow the below steps. Install Ubuntu 22.04 WSL 1. Enable Windows Subsystem for Linux and Virtual Machine platform Go to Control Panel -> Programs -> Programs and Features -> Turn Windows features on or off 2. Switch to WSL 2 Open Powershell and type in the below command. wsl —set-default-version 2 If you don’t have WSL 2, download the latest WSL 2 package and install it. 3. Install Ubuntu Open Microsoft Store and search for Ubuntu. Select the version you intend to install. I’d use the latest LTS version Ubuntu 22.04. Click on the Get button. It will take a couple of minutes to download and install. 4. Open up the installed Ubuntu version that was installed. If you get an error like the below image, make sure to install the WSL2 Kernel update . If it’s an older Ubuntu version the error message would be something like the image below. Error: WSL 2 requires an update to its

Getting DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_BAD_CONFIG error [closed]

Closed. This question does not meet Stack Overflow guidelines. It is not currently accepting answers.

This question does not appear to be about a specific programming problem, a software algorithm, or software tools primarily used by programmers. If you believe the question would be on-topic on another Stack Exchange site, you can leave a comment to explain where the question may be able to be answered.

I have couple of wifi connections out of which one works fine whereas the other one only works for some of the websites and services like google.com & skype. Browsing rest of many websites usually gives me that error:

DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_BAD_CONFIG
DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NO_INTERNET DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN

Another very strange thing that I experienced is that repeatedly refreshing a page often opens it whereas it doesn’t apply at every web page. I found many solutions as an outcome of long searches at Google & Stack Overflow but none of these worked. This is not a browser particular issue as getting the same issue on all the browsers I’ve (i.e. Chrome, Mozilla & IE). I’m getting the same issue at my official machine with Ubuntu OS & personal machine with Win10 OS. Meanwhile I’ve no problem with web surfing at my mobile and other PCs connected with the same connection. Detailed information about the real cause and solution (preferably for both Ubuntu & Win10) will be highly appreciable.
