Enable Windows Subsystem for Linux in Windows Server 2016 1607
I have Windows Server 2016 1607, right now the client wants to enable Windows Subsystems for Linux in Windows Server 2016.
Questions are my Windows Server 2016 1607 supports to enable WSL? If yes, how do I do it?
If not, what is the version that can support WSL in Windows Server 2016?
A family of Microsoft server operating systems that support enterprise-level management, data storage, applications, and communications.
Hi @aimanfaiz ahmad The recent release of Windows Server 2016 version 1803 allows WSL to be installed on it.WSL is available only in 64-bit versions of Windows 10 from version 1607. It is also available in Windows Server 2019.WSL has been available for Windows 10 since 2017 and starting from Server 2016 version 1803 (released April 30, 2018). Here is a link for a detailed description of the process that you must follow. Enable the Windows Subsystem for Linux

@Limitless Technology , the OP clearly stated that they are running Windows Server 2016 1607. So am I. When I try to enable WSL using the instructions you provided I get the following error:
PS C:\Windows\System32> dism.exe /online /enable-feature /featurename:Microsoft-Windows-Subsystem-Linux /all /norestart Deployment Image Servicing and Management tool Version: 10.0.14393.4169 Image Version: 10.0.14393.4169 Error: 0x800f080c Feature name Microsoft-Windows-Subsystem-Linux is unknown. A Windows feature name was not recognized. Use the /Get-Features option to find the name of the feature in the image and try the command again. The DISM log file can be found at C:\Windows\Logs\DISM\dism.log
WSL is available for Windows Server 2016 1803, but I have not found any useful description of how to upgrade my fully up-to-date 1607 version to 1803. Has anyone done this? If so, can you post how you did it? FWIW, I did see the «Manually update windows 2016 from 1607 to 1803» post. And I have tried to install windows10.0-kb4537795-x64_dab557e19cf27f416faf280efcb488bef455f7d7.msu from the catalog, but it says:
