Fix wifi kali linux
Troubleshooting wireless driver issues in Linux can be a frustrating experience if you don’t know what to look for. This article is meant to be used as a general guideline to better help you find the information you need to solve your wireless issues. The most thorough source for wireless driver information is the aircrack-ng documentation.
90% of wireless issues reported to us are due to people not reading the Aircrack-ng documentation. You need to run airmon-ng check kill before putting your card in monitor mode.
Carefully read carefully ANY error message as they will VERY OFTEN tell you what’s wrong and how to fix it. If not, then use your Google-Fu.
1. No Interface
- Stupid question: Is it a wireless card? (We’ve seen that several times)
- Is the device plugged in?
- Does it show up on lsusb or lspci (with the exception of phones)? You might want to update pci ids and usb ids
- Does dmesg contain any information about the driver loading and/or failing
- Is Kali a VM? Then, unless your card is USB, it will not be useable (VMware/VirtualBox/QEMU will virtualize EVERY PCI device). Is it attached to the VM?
- If there is nothing in dmesg and it’s not in a VM, then you might want to try the latest compat-wireless (and sometimes, you’ll need firmware) -> check on Linux-Wireless drivers
2. Interface But Can’t Do Anything
- Read error messages
- If there are no error messages, then run dmesg | tail and it will most likely tell you what’s wrong
- Firmware might be missing
- Check rfkill and any hardware switches and BIOS options
3. No Monitor Mode
- STA drivers (Ralink, Broadcom) and every other manufacturer’s provided driver doesn’t support monitor mode
- ndiswrapper doesn’t support monitor mode AND NEVER WILL.
- Airodump-ng/Wireshark don’t show any packets: check rfkill and any hardware switches and BIOS options
4. Injection
- Test with aireplay-ng -9 (Make sure the card is in monitor mode with airmon-ng)
- Airmon-ng doesn’t display chipset information: It’s not a big issue as it just didn’t get that information from the card and doesn’t change the abilities of your card
- No injection but monitor mode: Check rfkill and any hardware switches and BIOS options
- Network managers sometimes interfere with Aircrack tools. run airmon-ng check kill to kill these processes.

WiFi not working in Kali Linux 2020.4 [Fix ]
Wifi not working in kali linux 2020.4? Kali Linux 2020.4 comes with more powerful tools. Usually when we install a Linux Distro on a laptop, some of them get all of the driver installed totally, some is partially, or maybe not at all. It could be a disaster especially if the network driver isn’t installed in this internet era. I have also face the problem when i was install Kali Linux 2020.4. Kali Linux 2020.3 is a latest version of Kali Linux. In the case wifi not working in kali linux for me.
This is just happened when I installed Kali Linux 2020.4 on my HP Notebook 15-da1022tx. It is not the first time actually, back then I’ve faced this wifi not working problem when I was installed Parrot OS on my old laptop. But those time that was very easy that to install wifi. Well, I start to think this problem is not rare, it’s Open-Source after all.
Intent
This repository hosts the code for the Arch Linux AUR Package. It’s targeting Linux > 4.14 and is being developed for Arch Linux and Ubuntu 18.10. No support will be provided for other Linux distributions or Linux Kernel versions outside of that range.
So, what have you done?
First, I downloaded the image from the official website. After that, I ran Rufus to create a bootable with default setting. I configured the image source and then clicked start. Done, no error.
Next I booted my laptop from USB and followed the installation instruction. I also checked install third-party software for graphics and Wi-Fi hardware. After a few steps, Kali Linux did the installation for me.
That’s all I did, then I clicked on network icon and found out only Ethernet network that exist there. No wifi network available. What the hell….
How do you fix it?

The maintainers of this repository are not Realtek employees and are maintaining this repository for their own usage. Further feature development (such as proper power saving, etc.) will not be pursued here, but will be gladly integrated if newer driver sources are provided by Realtek. Use at your own risk.
DKMS
This driver can be installed using DKMS. This is a system which will automatically recompile and install a kernel module when a new kernel gets installed or updated. To make use of DKMS, install the dkms package.
So first I need to know what driver my laptop use by running this command

Installation of Driver
Make sure you have a proper build environment and dkms installed.
Ubuntu & Debian
The following steps are required prior to building the driver on Ubuntu/Debian:
sudo apt install bc module-assistant build-essential dkms sudo m-a prepare
Ubuntu users may also install the prebuilt rtl8821ce-dkms package, an older version of the driver maintained by the Ubuntu MOTU Developers group for bionic, eoan and focal. It has been known to work in cases where the newer driver available here does not. Bugs and issues with that package should be reported at Launchpad rather than here.
Arch Linux
Make sure you have the base-devel package group installed before you proceed for the necessary compilation tools.
Installing from AUR
Dependencies for manual installation on Arch Linux
sudo pacman -Syu linux-headers dkms bc
If you are running a non-vanilla kernel then install the headers to match the kernel package. Proceed to the section below.
Gentoo Linux
An unofficial Gentoo package is available, using this repository as upstream. It is available from the trolltoo overlay. Gentoo does not use or require dkms for packaged drivers.
# layman -a trolltoo # emerge --ask net-wireless/rtl8821ce-driver
Manual installation of driver
In order to install the driver open a terminal in the directory with the source code and execute the following command:
Removal of Driver
Open a terminal window and git clone the repository to your local disk
git clone https://github.com/tomaspinho/rtl8821ce.git cd rtl8821ce
Then run the installation script:
Upgrading driver
Make sure you have your local copy of this repository fully updated:
If it’s still doesn’t work, there might be a different approach because those steps are work on my HP Notebook 15 Da-1022tx but I have to disable the secure boot so the driver could be installed on my Laptop. I hope this blog could help you. If you have any question feel free to comment bellow.
