Windows 10 forscan can’t find Bluetooth elm327

I’m having trouble with forscan and Windows 10.
I’ve paired the Bluetooth adapter in windows 10 but forscan can’t detect it. I’ve tried 2 different computers with same result.
I’m not sure if its a window 10 thing or forscan is not compatible with Windows 10 yet.

Under Windows 7 I don’t have any problems connecting.

We are going to test FORScan in Windows 10 in nearest future. In the meantime, we have a question: can any other software work with your adapter under Windows 10?

Same problem here — but DigiMoto can not connect through it as well. I think it´s a problem of the drivers of cheap ELM327 BT adapters.

There are no drivers for the ELM since it´s bluetooth,
Did anyone try sending commands to the ELM by a terminal application yet?

Will test this as soon as i am able to upgrade to Windows 10 on one of my devices.

FORScan doesn’t address Bluetooth device directly (using Windows API). Instead, it works through a virtual COM port created by Windows bluetooth stack. Starting from Windows 8.1 (and we believe the problem in Windows 10 is similar) the virtual COM port stopped to work with some adapters. Not only china clones, as there were complaints here on OBDLink MX as well (Windows 10 only). Formally this is not a FORScan problem, as it cannot be responsible for Windows bluetooth stack, but real problem of the FORScan is that it doesn’t provide an alternative (direct access to Bluetooth, avoiding the virtual COM). This is rather an organizational problem for us, as we need to upgrade our development environment for Windows in order to integrate Bluetooth API, but we are hopeful to solve it in the nearest future.

We will also peform tests in Windows 10 in nearest few days.

ive download some trial obd programs and tested in windows 10

EasyObdII 2.5.7 does not work.

TouchScan 2.16 does not work.

OBD Auto Doctor was the only program to advertise it works in windows 10

Just had a short test with Windows 10 and ELM327 BT adapter powered up on the workbench.

It seems like Windows 10 does not reconnect to the adapter, it only connects to it the first time it is connected and paired. After switching the adapter or BT off and on again, the adapter is recognized as «paired», but it does not connect again. I can´t find a way to reconnect to it.

After pairing, two COM-ports are known to Windows (one «OBDII» and one «OBDII (SPP Dev)»), STNterm and PuTTY connect to the first of the two, but there is no response to ATZ or ATI.

OBDII interface is categorized by Windows as «Other», so perhaps Windows 10 just does not know how to handle the connection?
