Gnome calendar linux mint

I would like to choose different colours for every type of events.

I can’t get it to work. I can import calendars or make new ones, but none of them are displayed after I reboot of my machine. Toggling the enabled/disabled status of a calendar crashes the application. Imported events are often entered with an end date incorrectly before the start date. There is a dialog to change the begin and end dates of events, but the changes are most of the time ignored. Imported events are regularly imported in the wrong month. Events cannot be moved to a different month. Even the «close» button on the «about»-panel doesnt work.

Unusable with dark themes. Just found: no way to DELETE events.

an sich nicht schlecht! wenn man jetzt aber ein Termin in der Zukunft sucht z.b. im Dezember bekommt man keine Ergebnisse! deswegen nutze ich lieber Evolution!

An sich kein schlechter Kalender. Aber die App stürzt entweder ab oder übernimmt einfach nicht vorgenommene Einstellungen. Da muss auf jeden Fall nachgebessert werden. An sich übersichtlich und schlicht gehalten. Das Design gefällt mir durchaus.

Crashes when adding recurring events. Crashes when i’m trying to edit recurring events. After crash deleted events comes back. Besides those issues i like it.

Needs work. Has promise if it were revised. Can’t make changes to an existing calendar entry — you have to delete it and start over. Can’t move around the calender input area with tab key — most other software allows this. Have to convert entries to military time. Not a problem but should emulate other calendar apps that take input ‘P’ or ‘A’ to indicate AM or PM.

It is barely usable. When you try make a modification on a recurring event, sometimes it works, most of the time it does not.

Buggy and missing features. The minimialist look is great although.

Very Simple and Basic Calendar App, Great for beginners, very easy to use, very user friendly, making a recurring appointment is easy, setting an alarm is super easy, I appreciate the clean user interface, big squares for each day, fill up the whole screen. Just what you would want and expect from a simple, basic, easy-to-use calendar app, I am using version 3.28.2 on Linux Mint 19. I find no pre loaded Birthday that is impossible to get rid of, when I search for «birthday», nor does it appear on my screen anywhere. I havent tried backing it up but I would imagine a standard backup of all my data would get it, or timeshift system restore utility. It is more powerful than I will ever need, can syncronize with google calendar, add in online weather, create multiple calendars PERSONAL, or BIRTHDAYS and ANNIVERSARIES, etc. w. mint 19.

Cannot use or get rid of the pre-loaded birthday. No menu to choose where the files will be stores, so there is no way to make a backup of the events or agenda you might have. there is room for improvement.

Schlichter Kalender, funktioniert aber mit CalDAV (Einrichtung über Evolution), sehr übersichtlich!

Missing dependency: libgweather (meaning libgweather-3.so ).

Is this package still needed?

With manual installation, makepkg tells me that there is a missing dependencies failure? :

@yochananmarqos: check if the upgrade to 3.30.0 from the gnome-calendar should help you, some of the options changed (probably related to its dependencies) and maybe that was the reason you weren’t able to build it

A couple of things related to this package:

This app is the same gnome-calendar, but with some patches applied from Linux Mint in order to make it compatible with Cinnamon (since now it supports the Gnome Online Accounts module), also this is a release taken directly from the Linux Mint repos instead of upstream, so before giving any comments or out-of-date notice, please check the new upstream repository since this is intended mainly for Cinnamon
Because of previous point, this patched version of gnome-calendar may be supported only on Cinnamon because of the nature of the patches applied (and thus the older dependencies compared to upstream GNOME), if you wish to use it on other GTK desktop environments you need to remove the Cinnamon/GNOME dependencies mainly; although you need to check if there won’t be additional issues of pulling additional non-wanted packages for your particular DE due to the GNOME components (like gnome-control-center, evolution-data-server and the other libraries with it that GNOME already has; and cinnamon-settings combined with gnome-online-acounts in the case of Cinnamon). If you are unable to remove non-required GTK dependencies, then you can use any other program that you consider that may suite your needs.
This package is intended to be used only on Cinnamon due to being the last release that doesn’t require the new libadwaita library and this particular version no longer works on GNOME properly because of the Linux Mint patches (it may work with the current releases of GNOME but due to GNOME programs requiring other/additional libraries, like libadwaita and GTK4, I cannot guarantee if something works or not on GNOME after installing due to this), in case it doesn’t work and you wish to use the calendar on GNOME please use the package provided upstream.
Before giving an out-of-date notice, please check the package on Linux Mint repositories, since this particular version of gnome-calendar will depend on what Linux Mint provides on their repositories, also since this version will no longer be the same as upstream gnome-calendar, the comparison between upstream and this version no longer applies and please do not give out-of-date based on that.
Any problems or bugs related to this particular version, you can report it to Linux Mint developers on their respective communication channels, otherwise if the issue is with packaging you can report it here. Other issues you may need to check with upstream GNOME if these may be solved on newer versions
