Will this game supports linux in future or not?

Will buy once linux version is out.
Heroes of Might and Magic III: The Restoration of Erathia actually had a Linux version. Sadly, Heroes of Might and Magic III: Armageddon’s Blade and Heroes of Might and Magic III: The Shadow of Death did not, but Heroes of Might and Magic III HD does not include those expansion packs anyway. A Linux version of Heroes of Might and Magic III HD is more than welcome according to my wallet.

It’s almost ready, supports modding and have several advantages over running H3 in Wine.
1) Use normal OS — Windows 7.
2) HMM3, as i remember, was DX7. There is no normal DX support under *nix. And never will be.
This is Ubi$oft, there won’t be a Linux/Mac/SteamOS port.

Ubuntu is mine «normal OS». Also what is «normal DX»? Is that a new IT Standard, «normal»? Please post some links to a paper, what is «normal».

Really? Why isn’t *nix OS Normal? Frankly I use Linux more than Windows. And I got them both installed on my computer

Chances are that if you are a Linux user, you won’t be going back to Windows. I haven’t used Windows since Steam came out for Linux back in February of 2013, and even accidentally deleted Windows since then but realised I only needed the files on that partition, not Windows itself.
With Age of Wonders III having been confirmed for Linux and receiving regular developer updates, and with Endless Legend coming to Linux as well at some point, I certainly won’t be going back to Windows just for Heroes of Might and Magic III HD, especially since Heroes of Might and Magic III: The Restoration of Erathia had a Linux client back in the day, as stated earlier.

Back to the past! Playing Heroes of Might and Magic 3 with latest Horn of the Abyss on Linux or OS X!
Recently I’ve seen that there are championships in my favorite game from the childhood Heroes of Might and Magic 3, also I and my girlfriend are big fans of that game so why don’t play it and feel like a child again, right?
The problem was that I’m not having a Windows machine… I have only the MacBook which runs on OS X and Thinkpad powered by Ubuntu 18.04 LTS and that was a time when I started reading and using a wine.
Also… I found that there is a cool unofficial extension Horn of the Abyss built by fans. So why not try it as well?
Download Heroes 3 exe file
- Download Heroes 3 .exe file. I recommend to buy a Game from GOG: Heroes of Might and Magic 3 Complete (it worked for me). I heard that the Steam version is not working.
- If you are using the GOG version, go to your account and click on the bought game.
- Download game (2 parts) from offline backup game installers
Install wine (Ubuntu 18.04 LTS)
I used WineHQ packages commands and it worked without any issue.
Install wine (macOS Mojave 10.14.2)
Run setup
wine setup_heroes_of_might_and_magic_3_complete_4.0.exe 
HoMM3 HD+ extension
This extension is required to run Horn of the Abyss.
Horn of the Abyss (HotA)
- Go to HotA page and download exe file (do not be afraid of Polish language, the file is working and it supports English language as well)
- Install it using wine
Play a game
- Go to the wine directory on your unix machine. In most cases it will be ~/.wine
- Enter Heroes 3 directory and run HoMM3 HD+ mode exe file

How to Download & Install Heroes of Might and Magic 3 Linux Game
- Click the Download link below and you should already have installed a download client on your system.
- Notification will pop and say “that our site wants to open this application”. Click the button to open the client to let the download begin and wait for it to finish.
- Once Game Heroes of Might and Magic 3 for linux is done downloading, Extract (Unzip) “*******.tar.gz” -if you encounter this file- (To do this you must know how extract .tar.gz Files using Linux Command Line here).
- Right click the ./start.sh, select “Properties”, go to the “Permissions” tab, mark the file as executable. Then just treat it more or less like one of those Setup.exe’s on Windows. Double-click it to run it.

Heroes of Might and Magic 3, или просто Герои 3 – поистине легендарная игра, которая способна пробудить самые теплые и ламповые воспоминания не у одной сотни или даже тысячи геймеров. Её релиз состоялся зимой 1999 года, в России же игра вышла почти на год позже. Но ожидание определенно было оправданным, о чем говорит хотя бы оценка пользователей metacritic – 9,3 балла, а также великое множество прочих наград и регалий. HD-переиздание 2015 года было воспринято куда более холодно: 4,2 балла от пользователей всё того же metacritic и 64 % процента положительных отзывов в Steam. По мнению пользователей, наиболее заметным недостатком этой версии стала неоправданно высокая цена, а также неполнота издания: в нем доступны только миссии из The Restoration of Erathia.
Итак, что же выбрать?
На радость любителям третьих Героев, Loki Software выпустила порт для Linux, который и по сей день прекрасно работает без каких-либо проблем. Чтобы насладиться оригинальной игрой 1999 года, вам нужен только диск или его образ, где вы найдёте соответствующий .sh-скрипт, который запускает инсталлятор игры. Пять минут установки – и та-дам! Можете наслаждаться Героями во всей их красе!
Если же вы не представляете, как жить без высокого разрешения, можете приобрести игру на площадке GoG и воспользоваться скриптами ./play.it (после чего игра будет запускаться в Wine) или playonlinux.
Наиболее предпочтителен, на мой взгляд, первый вариант, поскольку “родная” версия от Loki Software содержит ту же кампанию, что и HD-переиздание. Ретро-графика и изображение с соотношением сторон 4:3, на мой взгляд, не такая большая проблема, как завышенная цена за обновленные спрайты, особенно если учесть, что оригинальная игра куда менее притязательна по отношению к системным ресурсам, не говоря уже о возможных проблемах совместимости. Конечно же, версия от Loki Software выпущена ещё для Linux с версией ядра 2.2.x, а значит гарантировать совместимость со свежими дистрибутивами трудно, однако в моём случае никаких проблем не возникло.
Итог
Heroes of Might and Magic 3 от Loki Software – отличный выбор, если вы заботитесь о системных ресурсах и не боитесь изображения формата 4:3. Но если вас смущает небольшое разрешение, к вашим услугам Wine и HD-версия 2015 года.
