Why i cannot find bluetooth option in device manager. I am unable to find bluetooth ON/OFF option in the bluetooth settings. Kindly help. Thank you

Does your machine has BT option in the first place ? Actually none of HP EliteBook 8460p machine has builtin Bluetooth as shown on page 5 of the following manual, they only have wifi:

In that model series, Bluetooth was optional, and your notebook needed to have the separate bluetooth module listed in chapter 3, page 35 of the service manual.

Many of those notebooks came with W7 from HP, and if you or someone else upgraded the PC to W10 and it did have bluetooth, there is a good chance the Bluetooth radio was turned off during the upgrade.

So the first thing you need to do is to confirm that your notebook came with bluetooth from HP.

If it did, there will be a Bluetooth device listed in the BIOS and you will have the option to enable or disable it.

If you do not see a bluetooth device in the BIOS, then your notebook does not have the optional bluetooth module.

If you do see a bluetooth device listed in the BIOS and it is enabled, then the easiest thing to do to turn on the bluetooth radio is this.

Make a bootable Ubuntu installer. Download Ubuntu from the link below.

Here is a tutorial for how to make the installer bootable.

Boot from the Ubuntu installer, and select the option to ‘Try Ubuntu without installing.’

Turn on the bluetooth radio in Ubuntu.

Shut down the PC, remove the Ubuntu installer and when you are back into Windows, the bluetooth should be working again.

Most likely when you upgraded the PC from W7 to W10, the Bluetooth was turned of in the connection manager software.

That software does not work on any OS newer than W7, so you have two options.

The easy one is to make a bootable Ubuntu installer.

Boot from the Ubuntu installer, and select the option to ‘Try Ubuntu without installing.»

Turn on the Bluetooth in Ubuntu. Shut down the PC, remove the installer, turn on the PC and when you get back into Windows, W10 will install the Bluetooth driver and the Bluetooth should work again.

Ubuntu download link. you want the desktop version.

Tutorial for how to make the file bootable.

The hard way is to reinstall W7, install the HP connection manager software from your notebook’s support page, turn on the bluetooth in the connection manager software.

Uninstall the HP connection manager software, restart the PC, verify that the Bluetooth is still present and then upgrade back to W10.

When I right-click on a file, I see the «send to bluetooth device» but it doesn’t search for a bluetooth device when clicked. Also, I checked my «Network adapters» in Device managers, and found Broadcom 802.11n Network adapters among others. I was told it was a bluetooth driver, but it does nothing of bluetooth I can tell for sure.

Please how do I know if my system actually has a bluetooth driver and what link should I download it from if it doesn’t?
