How to install Ubuntu on HP ProBook 450 G5 + Dual Boot Windows

Make sure you have the latest Ubuntu Operating system Downloaded from the official Site, if not then download it from the official website.

1. Create a Bootable Disk

The downloaded ISO file is to be burned into a USB/DVD or flash drive which will be used to boot the computer.

Tips to Boot a USB Device

1. After installing Rufus simply select the ISO file from the file manager and accept all settings when the popup window appears.
2. Select MBR partition scheme for BIOS or UEFI and If your laptop has UEFI bios then select the other two options.
3. For the Filesystem select NTFS option and select if your PC has UEFI bios then select FAT32.
4. The default Cluster size option should be selected.
5. Make sure all three options including Quick Format, Create a Bootable disk using and Create extended labels and icon files are selected.
6. Finally, start the process and this software will automatically format and create bootable USB flash drive.

2. Change boot-order to boot from USB in HP ProBook 450 G5

• Connect the bootable USB stick to the port.
• Turn on or restart your HP ProBook 450 G5
• Press F10 as BIOS Key to enter into BIOS in HP ProBook 450 G5
• From the Boot menu choose to boot from your USB drive
• Save, Exit and Reboot your Laptop

1. Choosing Keyboard

• Let’s create the /home partition of size more than 18GB.
• Next, create partitions / of 6GB and /var of 4GB by using the process we have discussed with you.
• Lastly, Create the swap area partition of 2GB.
• Check that all the partitions are made correctly or not. Once you have created the partitions successfully you can proceed to the further steps by clicking Install Now.

5. Selecting Time Zone

Choose the desired time zone and click on continue

6. Providing user credentials

Give your information to the page prompted to you. The page will ask your name, computers name, username, and the password. Finally, click on continue to begin the process of installing Ubuntu 18.04 LTS on your HP ProBook 450 G5.

7. Start installation

Установка Linux Manjaro, на ноутбук HP ProBook 4340s

Здравствуйте! В связи с прекращением поддержки данной модели ноутбука HP ProBook 4340s(https://support.hp.com/lv-en/document/c03331546) для Win 10, планирую постараться отказаться от её использования. Но до этого работал только в Windows. Планирую постепенное изучение Linux Majaro, с резервным доступом в крайних случаях к Windows 10 (если работать в 10 не получится, то вернуться на Win 7-ку). Прошу помочь с инструкциями, желательно подробнее как нужно проводить установку этих операционных систем для такой работы, с учетом того чтобы в дальнейшем в случае необходимости с минимальными трудозатратами провести переустановку с W10 на Win 7-ку.

Есть rEFInd. Он Вам будет грузить все что угодно (EFI-only).
GRUB2, впрочем, тоже будет, но там больше телодвижений.
Но есть нюанс. После переустановки шиндошс она воткнет свой загрузчик, почитаемый в Редмонде единственно верным. Лечится это, разумеется, инсталляцией приличного бутлоадера.

Непонятно, с чего вы решили, что прекращена поддержка данным ноутбуком windows 10 (что само по себе странно звучит), если на странице загрузок драйверов вполне себе лежат дрова под 10-ку, хоть и довольно старые, но это не показатель)). Обнова BIOS всего трехгодичной давности.
Т.е. все это предполагает, что 10-ка вполне там рабочая )
Ну, а чтобы поставить в дуалбут манжару — надо просто выделить свободное место, а потом поставить манжару согласно инструкций на вики wiki.manjaro.org/index.php/Installation_Guides

Увы но по факту ноутбук с Win10 не рабочий. В начале какое-то время он работал, но потом всё. Видеодрайвера дискретные перестали работать с обновлениями Windows. Вероятно это же ожидает и остальные драйвера. В поддержке указано что, драйвера обновляться для 10 для него не будут и что работоспособность не гарантирована.

Есть же возможность на десятке удалить какие хочешь обновления и сделать их скрытыми чтоб больше не обновлялись, вон на работе из-за последних обнов половина компов с десяткой позакрывали сетевой доступ к своим принтерам. Все вылечилось тем как описал. Так что у майков хрен знает в бошке творится. А так дома у меня десятка и манжаро, все через груб. Снимки в таймшифте каждую неделю автоматом. Если вдруг придется винду перенакатывть, то потом можно с флешки запустить таймшифт и восстановить манжару вместе с грубом, или чуть больше заморочиться и восстановить груб.

А какая последовательность действий в том случае, если поставить GRUB, Win10, Мanjaro? Может быть есть какая-то инструкция? Я так предполагаю что нужно сначала разбить жесткий минимум на 2 логических, поставить GRUB, потом Win 10 или Mongaro, а потом вторую?

Вы, конечно, можете сделать все в такой последовательности. Но как я уже писал выше ШИНДОШС ЗАТРЕТ СТОРОННИЙ ЗАГРУЗЧИК. Поэтому ставьте форточки первыми, раз оно нужно.

Без излишних движений — сперва ставишь винду потом manjaro. Manjaro в свою очередь ставит grub. В этом деле главное правильно указать раздел куда будешь груб ставить (должен быть главный для обоих систем (sda)).

Правильно понимаю, что в этом случае, лучше сделать 3 логических диска? 1 для Win, другой для Monjaro, и третий для документов, чтобы была возможность работы с ними из двух систем? Или удобнее в этом случае другая конфигурация?

По старой привычке я держу по два логических диска на систему. В винде один для самой винды и второй для софта и остального, в манжаро особого смысла в этом нет, но по привычке я home завел отдельно. Доступа с винды стандартными средствами к дискам манжаро при рекомендуемой разметке ext4 не будет, обратно все работает. Так что кому как удобно так и делают.
