Install tgz linux mint

Linux Mint Forums

Хочу установить android-sdk_r22.2.1-linux.tgz

No such file or directory

Open a console and cd into «/bin» and type:

to start the application.» а конкретно «and cd into «/bin» Это из инструкции по установки IDEA.

./idea.sh

[SOLVED] How to install .tar.gz files

Post by alquimista » Mon Feb 07, 2011 8:34 pm

I usually download «deb» files and the software is installed automatically; I just downloaded LibreOffice on a file «LibO_3.3.0_Linux_x86_install-deb_en-US.tar.gz»; how to install or handle this «.tar.gz» file?

After you decompress the archive file, follow the directions on the LibreOffice Installation page: http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/installation/linux/

*Installed LibreOffice a couple of days ago without issue. Good luck.

There is no one way to install tar.gz files. They’re archives, the equivalent of .zip files in Windows, and can contain anything at all. You have to read the directions provided by the developer in each case.

./configure make make install
TomsDesktop Downloads # ./configure bash: ./configure: No such file or directory TomsDesktop Downloads # make make: *** No targets specified and no makefile found. Stop. TomsDesktop Downloads # make install make: *** No rule to make target 'install'. Stop.

So lost on this.. I have so many tarballs rolling around in my system that are just broken, that I have thought of doing a fresh install. Even thought of going back to Windows

Their instructions (link above) say:

«Extract the package to a location, where you have easy access to (a directory in your Home directory would be fine).
You should now have a folder that is called something like: LibO_3.x.yrc2_Linux_x86_install-deb_en-US/ (remember that names can vary somewhat, as explained earlier).
Change into the unpacked folder.«

The «configure» file is in that directory you didn’t go to.

Or, you could install libreoffice the very easy way: with synaptic or the «Software manager».

You’re no doubt going to have more issues with installing a program that needs to be compiled — you’ll need extra packages which aren’t installed by default.
