Intel HD 3000 Driver on Vostro 3550
Post by Henrique.Neves » Sun Dec 20, 2015 9:43 pm
I recently changed to Linux Mint 17.2 Rafaela. I’m trying to install the graphics cards that came with my notebook Intel HD Graphics 3000 Driver. Right now it is using the on boards graphics card. I tried every kind of tutorial on the internet, tried to download some versions of intel-graphics but when i go to the installer, it says my distribution is not supported. I tried to change the file of release also to 14.04 and 14.04.02 without success. I ran out of options and that’s is why I’m here to ask help.

Thread: Intel HD graphics 3000 driver in 12.04

Intel HD graphics 3000 driver in 12.04
I have a battery consumption issue in a dell xps 13 i5 running 64-bit ubuntu 12.04. Jupiter is installed. If I only use a text editor and an open console, battery reports 6.5 hours. Opening chrome web browser, however, drops expected duration to 2+ hours only.
I suspect a video card driver problem. A friend pointed to this thread, which suggests a partial solution. He also suggested that I may need to update the video card driver (here is info from Intel), which seems far from self-evident from my Linux newbie perspective.
Some info that ought to be useful to diagnose my problem:
