sudo apt-add-repository ppa:ubuntu-x-swat/updates sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade

После обновления с этим инструментом мой экран на внешнем мониторе время от времени мигает (поворачивается черным примерно на 3 секунды каждые 15 минут) 🙁 По умолчанию драйверы, установленные в Ubuntu, были лучше. – luke 15 January 2018 в 13:20

12.10 native drivers intel HD 4000
Wow, well the answer I would give is to either use another video card or wait for 13.04 which will come with better support for the Intel 4000 HD series found in the Ivy Bridge CPUs. The support for the HD 4000 is not final yet in 12.10, it only got up to HD 3000 and still there were last minute changes that were needed to be included in the kernel. In kernel versions 3.7 and 3.8, all of this changes will be included, as well as several improvements for Mesa in regards to Intel HD in general.
For each individual point:
- Yes. It is because of the TV. Same happened to me. It really depends on the TV and the «real» resolutions it can handle. For example I have a someview 32′ that says to support 1920×1080, but if I use that resolution it looks horrible. If I use a lower one like 1680×1050 it looks many times better and smoother.
- Related to drivers and support for Intel HD 4000. Intel is working hard on having full support for the HD 4000 Series (And the 3000 since it is missing a couple of things) as well as much MUCH better support in Mesa for OpenGL in Intel HD.
- Bad move with the upgrade of the kernel. Typically they are made for a specific version of Ubuntu since it needs a lot of testing to get everything right. Your solution was he right one at the end.
- and This is because the drivers for the HD 4000 Series do exists for Windows. Intel is actually working on proper support for Linux.
- Same as 4.
- Ok ^^.
- Same as 2.
- Same as 2.
- Same as 2
- Won’t do much. It will have the same performance.
You happen to have a very high end (latest model) of literally everything. I would recommend getting an Nvidia card while you wait for 13.04 or test the pre-alpha version.
For the Blender comments, when they mention «native», they mean for example, the proprietary drivers for Nvidia/Ati, or a fully supported Intel video card. Right now, the latest 2 series, the HD 3000 and 4000 are not yet fully supported but will be in the upcoming 13.04.

Graphic Drivers — Intel HD 4000
Post by Ronpl » Sun Apr 27, 2014 3:10 pm
Today I’ve installed Linux Mint 16 x64 and I’ve got problem with graphics in Europa Universalis IV (runs natively on Linux via Steam). Windows version runs great.
How can I check which drivers I’ve got installed or install newest?
My graphic card: Intel HD 4000.

If you find a solution that works for you — be sure to detail it here for future use of others with a similar problem.
P.S.: Mint 16 is based on Ubuntu 13.10. There was a release for U13.10 on 10 FEB 2014 (v. 1.0.4) — you might try that one.

Do you know how to clone an image of your HD using Clonezilla or something similar? If so and you’re feeling adventurous. you could clone your installation and then throw caution to the wind. you could proced with the installation even though isn’t supported (if the install routine will let you) and see what happens. alternatively, you could try to upgrade your kernel. Dont try either without having a good backup (clone) in place. either could render your system unbootable. but might work.
. otherwise, wait for other wisdom from the forum.

I have no idea what you are talking about There is no other way to install these drivers or play this game with similar graphic in Windows ?

FYI — just bc you can play a game in Windows doesn’t mean you can play it on Linux. If the game can’t be run native-ly in Linux, you can sometimes get it working with the Windows Application Installer, Wine.
That being said, you should be able to open the driver manager and see what options you have. Also following JeremyB’s advice by typing lsmod in a terminal will give you detailed info. Post the output from that into the forum and we can assist you more.
