[SOLVED] Intel HD Graphics Control Panel Color Adjustment Option in Mint

The black levels on my external monitor are bad.
http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/all_tests.php shows that my monitor cannot distinguish between brightness levels of 0 to 16.
On Windows, I fixed it using Intel HD Graphics Control Panel.
On Linux, it seems there is no official Intel Control Panel.
I ran

xrandr --output HDMI-1-1 --brightness

with different values for val but the problem is that it just multiplies the brightness. On Windows, it also translated so a pixel with brightness 1 was mapped to some higher value so that it’s actually visible. I can add images if necessary.

Also, if I manage to do it correctly with xrandr, it is a software only modification so it may have some considerable performance impacts.

• I don’t know if they are relevant.
• These seem too complicated for something that can be done in 5 clicks in Windows
• I don’t fully understand what these are and I don’t want to break anything.

You likely won’t get the same exact thing in Linux, and you aren’t necessarily going to get as many steps adjusting brightness in Linux vs Windows. It depends on the driver.

And, on the subject of drivers, do not just do the WIndoze thing and blindly dl the latest Intel driver from their site. There’s very little backwards compatibility in Linux generally and that’s a good wau to break your video.

I’d suggest trying redshift, but you need to show better system info. Copy/paste this to the terminal and copy/paste the text output here (no screenshots plz):

Установка драйвера Intel в Ubuntu

В отличие от драйверов видеокарт от других производителей, таких как Nvidia и AMD, часть драйвера Intel для интегрированных видеокарт встроена в ядро, а другая часть в пакет mesa-utils. Таким образом если вы используете последнюю версию ядра и свежую версию mesa-utils то, скорее всего, вы используете самую свежую версию драйвера Intel.

В этой статье мы рассмотрим как выполняется установка драйвера Intel в Ubuntu если он не установлен по умолчанию, а также как получить самую последнюю версию.

Официальный установщик драйверов Intel

Раньше существовал установщик драйверов от Intel, позволяющий установить последнюю версию драйвера в Ubuntu или Fedora, но потом компания прекратила поддержку этой утилиты. Скачать её можно здесь. Но последняя версия пакета вышла в 2018 году, и с тех пор уже вышло много новых ядер и новых версий дистрибутива Ubuntu. Сейчас в репозиториях Ubuntu версия драйвера более новая чем там.

Установка драйвера Intel в Ubuntu

Вы можете посмотреть какой сейчас драйвер видеокарты используется с помощью команды lspci:

Как видите, в данном примере используется i915, это драйвер видеокарты от Intel. Он работает и ничего больше устанавливать не нужно. Если же в этой строчке находится что-то другое, можно попытаться установить драйвер.

Для установки части драйвера для Xorg и Mesa достаточно установить в систему такие пакеты:

sudo apt install xserver-xorg-video-intel

sudo apt install mesa-utils

Если вы хотите получить самую последнюю версию драйвера можно воспользоваться специальным PPA. Для добавления репозитория в систему выполните:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:oibaf/graphics-drivers

Затем просто обновите систему и перезагрузите компьютер:

Вот и все. Теперь вы знаете как выполняется установка драйвера Intel Ubuntu. В отличие от драйверов для Nvidia, в большинстве случаев здесь всё уже установлено. A Control Panel / UI For Intel’s Linux Graphics Drivers Is Still Under Evaluation

At the end of last year we reported on the possibility of an Intel Command Center / graphics driver control panel for Linux but not set in stone. The latest to report on the matter of an Intel Linux graphics GUI solution is that it’s still being evaluated by the company.

When recently inquiring about the state of IGC compiler usage by their Mesa drivers, I also asked whether there was anything new to report on the prospects of an Intel Linux graphics driver control panel akin to the Intel Command Center on Windows.

Interest in such a control panel is hardly new but something desired for many years by particularly novice Linux users, gamers, and those in general just preferring GUIs to running the terminal. After all, much of the same functionality found within the Intel Command Center is available on Linux but only exposed via sysfs files, setting module parameters, and other command-line driven interfaces for managing their Linux graphics stack. This also remains one of the most frequent complaints/requests for the AMD Radeon graphics stack on Linux too, with only NVIDIA’s proprietary driver having quite a feature-rich control area (nvidia-settings). There are some independent open-source operations like ADRIConf and some options integrated into different desktop environments but they tend to not be as close to full-featured as what is available for GPU drivers on Windows.

In any case, while it’s a common request, it’s not a current priority. I’m told that they are still evaluating a Linux UI and collecting input/thoughts on the matter. So, what would you want to see out of a modern Intel Linux graphics driver control panel?

Is there anything like Intel’s graphics control panel for Linux?

On Windows I can get a nice utility like this:

I know about DRIconf, but I can’t access basic settings like AA/AF, let alone color correction etc.

The reason I ask this is because I need to change some color settings (RGB values) on my notebook’s display, but I can’t seem to find any setting to change this. I’ve searched almost a hundred different threads on more than a dozen forums, but I can’t find what I’m looking for. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Specs: HP G7-1260US. Core i3, 8 GB RAM.

Nothing like that, I’m afraid. You’re going to be limited to what you can see in the Display selection.

So do you know how I can change AA/AF settings, and more importantly, adjust the RGB values on a notebook display?

With an external monitor, this is easy as the monitor has hardware buttons that respond to the built-in menu, but obviously this isnt possible on a notebook display.

On Windows this is easily done on control panel of the graphics card itself. There’s got to be a way to adjust the display through some setting on Linux!

Thanks. Is there any way to set Anti-aliasing and/or anisotropic parameters for Intel’s integrated GPU’s, though? They are not exposed in DRIconf.
