BlueHeart Bluetooth Heart Rate 4+

In the past two weeks it will no longer connect at all. Tried everything and getting very frustrated. Not sure if it’s since an update on Peleton firmware. Odd as my partner also uses BlueHeart and hers is still perfect. Same phones, same watches, same Peleton — all same software versions

Developer Response ,

That sounds like something went seriously wrong on Apple’s side as the watch app should be showing up in the third party apps to install if you scroll down. I’ve seen similar issues with other apps and have found that installing from the Watch App Store tends to fix this with 6.1 on the watch and 13.2.X on the phone. Let me know if this solved your issue!

Nice try but poorly executed

The premise of this application is great and it almost works — but the developer, admittedly fighting against many constraints outside of their control, just is not able to create an experience that works reliably every time.

It just cannot be recommended — I paid for premium and basically it just never works when you need it to. It often randomly disconnects, or just fails to read a rate altogether. I could accept this if it was an open source hobby app, but it’s not.

It is with regret I have to say: do not buy. You just cannot depend on this application to do what it is meant to. The developer appears to put minimal effort into support and bug workarounds. You would not buy a car that only starts a few months a year.

Installation working then latest update stops connection to peloton

I have been successfully using the app but then the latest update on my phone seems to have stopped the Bluetooth from connecting. My wife’s watch seems to work well so can’t really knock the app as it must be my phone/watch causing the problem.

The dev team at the app will look to troubleshoot the issue direct so although not working currently I hope they will be able to sort the Bluetooth connection to my peloton bike. I am on the latest version of iOS both on phone X and Iwatch

Developer Response ,

Hey, there the app has always been freemium (meaning that core features are free! just ad-supported). The recent peloton update has been causing issues so if you could try to restart your bike and see if that helps! If not feel free to email me at artur@ubiquitly.com!

BlueHeart Bluetooth Heart Rate 4+

Update: The connection problem is getting better, but even when I’ve selected the “don’t save” option, it’s still double-counting the workout on Health (both my Peloton and app workout minutes are recording as Active Energy). Oddly enough, it doesn’t show a second workout—it just double-counts the time and calories. I have to manually go through and delete all of the iPhone and Apple Watch “workout minutes” on the Health app to have the right number of minutes and calories burned showing. Because of that, I’ve stopped using it again—too much work. Note: This does not happen when I use the Peloton chest heart rate monitor and have the Apple Watch on.

Worked really well during the first few minutes of my first Peloton with this, but I had to stop the workout to respond to an issue at home. When I tried to restart my ride, it wouldn’t connect. I tried going to another ride, and same thing. I tried turning off Bluetooth on the bike and on my phone and even force closing the app, and nothing. I also did a hard shutdown on the Peloton bike, and nothing. I gave up trying to use it and just went back to the chest strap.

I really love the idea of this app, and the first few minutes with it were great, but it’s a huge problem that I couldn’t get it to pair again with the bike to resume my workout. Glad I didn’t pay the $10 for it.

Was nice when it sort of worked.

Just wanted to come back and update as I’ve got another week of use with the app and it’s worked flawlessly. I haven’t had to do any app quitting and restarting to get it to connect to my Peloton. I am on the WatchOS 7.1 beta, which could be the thing making it work. Whatever it is, it’s working as advertised for me. I simply start the app on my Watch (series 5), start the app on my iPhone (11 Pro Max) and it connects automatically to the Peloton.

An update to my earlier review, as the last two rides the app not only worked, it connected without any trouble and has been rock steady during the rides. I had given up on it and was simply using the Watch workout app, but decided to check if BlueHeart would work and it connected immediately and showed my heart rate on the screen.

Hopefully it continues to work, as I really like having the Watch be able to track my heart rate and it showing up on the Peloton.

Can’t believe I sprung for the paid upgrade, twice (for me and my wife), and I got it to work just a couple of times. It will sometimes connect to the Peloton, but not actually link the heart rate. Super frustrating and the work arounds don’t work either. I wish Peloton would develop a solution, other than needing to get a new bike.

No reply for connection issues

My wife and I downloaded the app on august 31st and paid for the upgrade to pro to support the app maker. This app has never worked for my wife and only a few times for me. The few times it did work, my work out did not register on my activity app. We both have put in tickets for help with no replies from the company even though after putting in the ticket we receive the message saying they have received the request and will be contacting you soon. After putting in multiple tickets, I opened a log in to the app makers company and have log in issues. I get a message saying my login and password do not match. I hit the forgot my password button and get the message I will get an email but never do. I tried opening a new account but I get the message my login is already taken. The company has my email, received multiple tickets for the app and logging in issues and I never get a reply. We both really want this app to work but after this long without the app working and no replies from the company, I felt I have no choice but to write this review. We would much rather have the app to work than try to get my my money back but it looks like we will end up with neither.
