PocketAudio (Headphones‪)‬ 4+

I am a very computer savvy individual, and for whatever reason, after enabling everything on my firewall, and rechecking Wi-Fi settings, I still can’t get this to work. Very frustrating.

iPhone: 5S w/ iOS: 7.1.1
Computer: Windows 8

Cool idea, a shame I had to pay for it

This app is a great idea. My computer’s left-side audio stopped working when a headphone jack is plugged into it. I would love to be able to listen to my computer through my phone, but this app has at least a 10 second delay, which makes it impossible to watch any video at all. It’s ok for listening to music, but I have access to that on the phone already. Really disappointed and can’t believe this thing actually costs money because it is not ready for consumers yet.

5+ second delay

I knew there would be a delay when I purchased this app, but I was expecting it to be measured in milliseconds. For me, the delay was over 5 seconds. I also wanted to use it to hear a garage band file through the speakers, but it doesn’t appear to work with garage band. It did work with iTunes but had the significant delay and dropout issues.

PocketAudio (Headphones‪)‬ 4+

PocketAudio lets you use your iPhone as wireless headphones for your computer. PocketAudio automatically forwards audio played on your computer to your iOS devices.

PocketAudio (Headphones) can be used to play sound from any Windows or Mac applications. Simply select PocketAudio as your computer’s audio output device, and you can now use iOS device to listen to any sound played on the computer.

You can use PocketAudio with any application that requires an audio output device, including Windows Live Messenger, Skype, AIM, Yahoo, etc.

*** Please note that there is network delay between the computer and iOS device. Therefore, PocketAudio should not be used in situations where delay can be an issue. For example, if you are watching a movie and use PocketAudio to play the soundtrack, you will notice the sound is played behind the video.

* On Windows, run PocketControl for Windows and make sure the SensticPocketService is running on your computer. On Mac, run PocketControl from the Mac applications folder.

Yes, once you figure it all out, the pc’s sound come out of the iphone’s speaker, delayed by about 1/2 second. You can turn up the volume on the iPhone and it sounds pretty good.

I grade them down for the awful and inintuitive user interface in the iPhone app and in the AudioServer.

For example, in the AudioServer, you check «Vista core audio» to transmit from the computer’s speaker and uncheck it to transmit from the microphone. What language is that in?

On the iPhone, you have to click on the complicated looking number to start the audio. How about «Start Audio» or something? Users are human beings, not mind readers.

It Works

I had to redownload my audio drivers from realtek and enable the mixed audio from my control panel, also, i had to disable the vista core mode from the server program, (I use windows 7 x64) but once it works, it works great. Theres a little lag sometimes, but if you will use it for audio only, the audio quality is very good. If you will use it to watch with videos, you need a good wifi connection and need to put the streaming buffers to a minimum. For most of the videos you cant notice the lag, but for others theres a little milliseconds lag going on. Its not really that bad and is very rare. I live in Brazil. A good bluetooth or wireless headset costs more than $50 here, so for most of my purposes this program works and for the price of a snack. Before you buy, try the free version to make the adjustments you need to make it work for you.

Superb

I am very happy with my purchase. This app enabled me to listen to my computer audio output from anywhere in my house. There is no sound delay or latency as long as the WiFi network is not being taxed by downloads and other computers. I am now able to watch movies and experience high-volume audio without disturbing anyone.

Another great feature of this app is its ability to control my computer from anywhere in the house. While the touch pad component cannot be used without being in front of the monitor, the command buttons could be used from anywhere. I programmed the command buttons according to my VLC player hotkeys and now I am able to use this app as a remote control for VLC player. I genuinely recommend purchasing this app.
