Iphone no imei no wifi

Iphone no imei no wifi

We have been getting some of emails lately from readers reporting that their iPhone 3G and 3GS (and some iPhone 4) about No IMEI, No Bluetooth and No WiFi on their device.
This is definitely a hardware issue usually a combination of a defective or corrupted baseband chip, baseband SRAM chip, UMTS Transceiver IC or broken micro components.
This usually happens after doing a restore, or a forced baseband update to 6.15.00 using redsn0w. In a more recent case, flashing iPad baseband will cause this problem due to a new Toshiba chip used in iPhone 3GS.

To those of you who like to scout for used iPhones on eBay, be sure to check with the seller before making your purchase. Otherwise you will end up with an expensive brick!
What are the symptoms? If you go to Settings, you will see Wi-Fi is grayed out and it shows No Wi-Fi.

Under Settings > About, the MAC address for Wi-Fi is showing is N/A while Bluetooth is showing as 00:00:00:00:00:00.

If you cant get your iPhone replaced at the nearest Apple Store theres still hope of rescuing your iPhone. What you can do:

  • Do a full restore with a stock firmware via iTunes
  • Flash the baseband to 6.15.00 using redsn0w
  • Reheat the logic board with an oven or the baseband chip with a heat gun

Hi, new user, and this is my first post. But I wanted to share the 3 hours of my life updating an iPhone 3G. I feel proud of myself so I hope this will help someone out there. I know the iPhone 3G is out of date, but I still own one and when I was searching I couldn’t find a fix. I am on a Mac, so here goes:

I have a iPhone 3G locked to UK O2 network. But I needed it unlocked to use it, so last year I had updated it to 4.1 and the iPad baseband 6.15.00. This works with the software unlock ultrasn0w. But as you will read, 6.15.00 baseband basically prevents you from updating firmware, and has GPS troubles.

I pulled it out last night and I wanted to update it to the last supported firmware, 4.2.1 8C148. So I read about redsn0w and musclenerd supporting a baseband downgrade. Great!

I downloaded redsn0w 0.9.15b3, the latest one, and followed all the instructions. redsn0w, unselected cydia and battery percentages, selected «downgrade from iPad baseband» and hit run. This is where it started to go downhill. Everything ran, iPhone rebooted, then I get «Searching. » under networks.

Thats when I noticed it. No IMEI, no Wifi, no Bluetooth, no Baseband. Basically every post online that I searched said my radio baseband was corrupted and my chip was screwed. The phone would also slap me in the face by rebooting itself every 3 minutes.

I tried running downgrade baseband/install ipad baseband a few more times, downloading ios 4.1 to have redsn0w point to it specifically. All was lost.

Until I read a post saying something along the lines of «yes you can upgrade to ipad baseband and then downgrade again to 5.13.00». fingers crossed.

I restored it to 4.2.1 through itunes. Baseband was back, at 5.15.00. However as if to taunt me, everything was restored, but redsn0w still won’t install ipad baseband. Tried many times, followed the instructions precisely, but no go. I still need my unlock!

Then I remembered a few years ago I had to try different versions of pwnage tool and snowbreeze. So that set off some thoughts, downloaded 0.9.14b2. iPad baseband installed, iPad baseband downgraded. I am happy, everything works as it should now and I am on a better baseband with GPS.

tl;dr Corrupted my 3G baseband, restored in itunes, tried a previous version of redsn0w, fixed 3G BB, upgraded then downgraded iPad BB, and now I have an unlocked 3G.

Thanks for reading, and I hope this helps someone in the future.

If I go into the settings ABOUT it is there that the info for / no wifi / no Imei / no ICCID / no modem firmware ALL BLANK.

Built new 4.2.1 maintaining baseband (sn0breez. ) and loaded that.

All went fine but still stuck in a loop with no / no wifi / no Imei / no ICCID / no modem firmware Still all BLANK.

Is this fixable? Is it a case of ipad 6.xxx .

i had the same problem wid my friends 3g today, fixed it using redsnow and 4.2 orignal fw
tick on ipad baseband(this will upgrade ur basbeband 6.11 and ur imei, wifi and iccid back)
be sure dat u have da same 4.2 fw already installed on ur iphone before running redsnow
u can later unlock it using ultrasnow from cydia

Hello , this problem getting to me after trying 4.0.1 to downgrade on 3.1.3 ,
Then i have back to 4..0.1 but problem are the same.
againg back to 3.1.3 same again!

What is the problem who have any solution , what i need to do with this iPhone to get back againg on normal mode.

Download the correct orinigal firmware and the custom firmware for your iphone such as 4.1 or 4.2.1 etc

1. Open redsnow input the correct oringal firmware click next
2. Put the device in «just enter pwned mode dfu mode»
3. Once the device is in dfu mode open itunes
4. Auto itunes will detect the iphone in dfu mode
5. Right click on restore and chose the correct custom firmware not orinigal firmware
6. Once completed activiated the iphone if you can if not move on to the next step.
7. Now we got the iphone working on the correct custom firmware open redsnow again.
8. Chose the orignial firmware whitch is matching with iphone.
9. Click on install cydia and ipad baseband click next.
10. Once finished you shall see your iphone rebooting and imei everything is restored back to original.

If step 9 dont work just install ipad baseband you may already have cydia install when flashed with custom firmware.

iOS Free SHSH Blobs Download

It is very true that new iPhone 3GS produced with new NOR chip is not compatible with iPad Baseband 6.15.00 and flasing to iPad baseband brickes the phone. I have some very basic questions:
1. Does it mean that iPhone with new baseband chip and on a modem firmware which is not supported by ultrasno0w can not be unlocked at all.
2. Besides knowing new NOR chip are unlockable why apple has stopped using it.
3. If iPhone displays no IMEI no WIFI does it mean that the hardware is permanently damaged. Which is really very difficult to believe at least for me, I think, if somehow we can restore the stock baseband on the phone, it will be fixed.
4. We are no one to force, but don’t you people think that instead of working on downgrade baseband feature hacker should have worked on upgrading ultrasn0w to support new basebands.
5. Will there be any software fix in the future to recover bricked iPhone.

Restoring to a regular 5.1.1 firmware can fix the issue caused by redsnow if you tried updating to the ipad baseband on one of the newer 3GS’s. You still wont be able to unlock but it should fix wifi and bluetooth. If your baseband is corrupt because of something else then that probably wont fix it.

Sometimes after flashing to an iPad baseband or downgrading from an iPad baseband we have seen this bluetooth, IMEI, wifi issue even though the iphone is older and the serial number is within the allowed time frame. It can be fixed. Heres how we have fixed several. Follow the directions exactly:
-Get the phone to power on, which it will be very slow, searching for network and constantly rebooting
-Once on slide to power off (very important)
-Use latest version of redsnow and manually select your ipsw (it wont do it automatically for you on a bricked phone)
-Go to jailbreak, tick off install cydia and install ipad baseband After reflashing the baseband your wifi, bluetooth, imei etc. should all be back to normal.

For some reason a portion of the downgrade or upgrade to ipad baseband doesnt work which causes this issue however reflashing it has always solved the issue THIS WILL NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM IF YOU TRIED FLASHING AN IPAD BASEBAND ON A NEWER IPHONE 3GS WITH THE NEW NOR CHIP
