ISO Master – graphical CD image editor
ISO Master is an open-source, easy to use, graphical CD image editor for Linux and BSD.
This tool extracts files from an ISO, add files to an ISO, and create bootable ISOs – all in a graphical user interface. It can open ISO, NRG, and some MDF files but can only save as ISO.
ISO Master is based on bkisofs, a simple and stable library for reading, modifying and writing ISO images which supports the Joliet, RockRidge, and EL Torito extensions.
- Reads .ISO files (ISO9660, Joliet, RockRidge, and El Torito), most .NRG files, and some single-track .MDF files; it can save only as .ISO.
- Create or customise CD/DVD images.
- Add or remove files and directories to/from a CD image.

ISO Master – GUI Tool to edit ISO Images in openSUSE
ISO Master which is claimed to be the best ISO editing tool is a graphical editor for ISO images. ISO Master is useful for extracting, deleting, or adding files and directories to or from an ISO image. ISO Master can read .ISO files (ISO9660, Joliet, RockRidge, and El Torito), most .NRG files, and some single-track .MDF files and can save and only save as .ISO.
The supported operations include, add/delete files and directories under the ISO image, Modify/delete the Boot records. extract files from the ISO etc.
Install ISO Master
Packman as always hosts a 1-click install Yast Metapackage for ISO Master. This installer is supported on openSUSE 11.0, openSUSE 10.3, openSUSE 10.2, and SUSE 10.1 & 10.0
To install ISO Master, simply click to download the 1-click Yast Metapackager and automatically open with YaST2 package Manager
Once installed, the ISO Master is loaded under Applications – Multimedia as “CD Image Editor”
Click on it to start ISO Master. The GUI is simple and no complex menus, in the top window, select the ISO file you would want to edit and double-click it. This will open the ISO image in the bottom window from where you can add, delete files, extract files from the ISO or add a directory to the ISO. You can also modify or delete the Boot Record from the ISO.
A great tool with a simple and easy to use interface to edit ISO Images.

ISO Master: A Free ISO Editor For Linux Mint
ISO Master is a free ISO editor for Linux Mint. It can read .iso files (ISO9660, Joliet, RockRidge, and El Torito), most of the .nrg (Nero Format) files and single-track .mdf (Media Descriptor Format) files. However, it can only save disk images in .iso format. It is a great tools for editing disk images, extracting files from disk images and creating bootable disks. The utility is free for Linux users, while it costs $20 for Windows users 😉
Here’s how to install it on Linux Mint (and on Ubuntu/Debian):
1. Issue the following command at the terminal –
sudo apt-get install isomaster
2. After the installation is complete, click on ‘Menu>Sound & Video>ISO Master’ to launch the utility.
3. Now, to edit an ISO image, click on ‘File>Open’.
4. Browse to the ISO image to be edited, select it and then click ‘Open’.
5. The ISO image is now open for editing. Edit as per your requirements and then save the edited image as a new ISO file.
