Hi there! I wonder if some wiz out there can shed a light on the process I noticed is running — it is called Isolated web Co. See output of

Какие настройки подкрутить что бы заставлять чаще флушить буффер и кэш и приоритет на очистку кэша а не использование свопа.
tmpfs используется?
Какое отношения размера/использование tmpfs к ОЗУ?

Isolated web co linux
Hello all
How to block forever the intrusion of this memory hungry ‘isolated web co’ something ?’ and what does it ?
The system monitor shows it. After killing; always comes back soon.
Does the hog calm down if you close Firefox?
Please have a read through this (https://hacks.mozilla.org/2021/05/introducing-firefox-new-site-isolation-security-architecture/). You may be encountering the result of Mozilla’s design decisions, but if it is sucking up a crazy amount of memory it may not be working as they intended.
Please let us know if anything there seems to fit. This might be useful to others in the future.
Will report when I find out as solid behavior. From memory, it lingers in the ‘System monitor’ but will confirm later. Am using ‘Web’ browser when Firefox gets clogged by apparently this
isolated’ thing. In my ignorance about this, appears like something grows and grows and piles up more and more when using Firefox until freezes. Coincides with half a dozen entries of this ‘isolated’ thingy.
I would prefer to choose not to have that feature if Mozilla invented and shoveled it to me for some ‘security’ reason. I do not store credit cards nor personal data in my compfuser. If this ‘isolated’ thingy can be blocked, I would prefer to live without it. Even if not harmful; the abuse it takes on my memory resources is not tolerable.
It may be a bug or some condition peculiar to your machine/setup.
I don’t see those entries when running Firefox with several tabs open — but that might just be the sites I have open.

I think this is not an intruder. I think this is part of the tabs you opened on Firefox. I think this is a part of security features of Firefox that prevents hackers from cloning, mirror or whatsoever for the purpose of stealing important data from us end-users of Firefox. By the way, I always use Firefox but haven’t encountered any issue like yours using Firefox so far. Regards and cheers
This is not limited to Ubuntu. A quick internet search throws up this, for example, on a Fedora forum.
If that post is right, it may be worth looking at the list of websites you routinely visit in case one or more of them is bringing this on.

«Isolated Web Co» and «RDD process» Libre Office
Post by Menard » Wed Oct 26, 2022 4:11 am
Sometimes my system freezes totally, especially on Libre Office, but I keep access to the bar and can start system monitor, I see these processes using the CPU at 25% and after both killed I can use my system again without to have to kill it
I begin to think that kernel past 5.15.0-48 or 46 are the problem

This may be hardware issue. Check fans for proper rotation. Clean the motherboard of any lint and dirt. Check fans for clogging.
If I have helped you solve a problem, please add [ SOLVED] t o your first post title , it helps other users looking for help.

Yes, a hardware issue and / or a kernel issue. Me too tend to update everything, until I noticed that the 5.15 kernel is not the best kernel for my hardware. So I changed to 5.4.
The 5.4 kernel corresponds better to LM 20.3 while 5.15 is for LM 21 I guess.

All is ok about it, I check it very often, I check the temperature too, I never hear the fans to make more noise than usual but the temperature is not clearly displayed by inxi -s for my APU
I clean the ventirad and the PSU vents with the vacuum cleaner every 2 monthes, the computer box is let open

I believe both of those processes are multiple Firefox tabs related.
If you look at the firefox line in the output you should see a reference to «isolated web co» for every tab you have opened.
If you close firefox all of them in the task manager will go away.
Please add a [SOLVED] at the end of your original subject header if your question has been answered and solved.

What is weird is that now I ve had the same sort of phenomenon with Chrome, with the difference that it came when I had only one facebook tab loaded and so one process took slowly more and more memory in RAM and until to reach 99% and then all freezes and I must use ctr+alt+del
With Firefox it came when the RAM consumption was high but not so much relatively with the number of tabs loaded
With Chrome, killing this huge memory consumming process, could bring a recovery
