Не устанавливается Kali Linux
Началось всё с того, что кто-то извне поменял пароль от рута на ноуте где стоял Kali Linux.
Первый способ вытащить флешку, вставить обратно и нажать «ДА», не помогло, вылазить новая ошибка «there was a problem reading data please make sure you have inserted. «.

Failed to install Kali Linux by USB drive
I have a Toshiba Satellite laptop with Windows 10. I downloaded 64 Bit Kali Linux 2018.1 and when I try to install it from a USB I get the following error message:
There was a problem reading data from the CD-ROM. Please make sure it is in the drive. If retrying does not work, you should check the integrity of your CD-ROM.
I tried running the following command but it doesn’t work, and it shows the message in the screenshot.
mount -t vfat /dev/sdb1 /cdrom

Go back to your computer and use Rufus to create a bootable USB drive from the Kali Linux ISO. Plug it back into your Toshiba and boot from your USB. That should work.
This is very, very important to anyone else who has this issue: You need to have Rufus work in DD mode, not ISO mode. If it’s ISO mode it won’t work properly!
I was able to move forward a bit using the following command:
touch /dev/sr0 ln -f /dev/sdb1 /dev/sr0
From there I was able to get past it detecting the CD-ROM. However it didnt get me far as the next screen says «UNetbootin media detected» which basically says I will likely have problems, the screen after this greets me with the same error. You can execute:
let it detect and it will present the same error after the unetbootin message again. So. I only got further by one screen. Validation of the media fails as the message says «Not a valid debian installation media». So I will punt and snag a removable dvd drive and just do it that way. Live CD functions all work but have been unable to do any installs even from text.
Also, this works via Alt + f2 or using the shell from the menu.
Kali Linux Failed to Copy a File From CD-ROM || PawanChauhan.Com
Hey, are you facing some error while you installing Kali Linux on your Computer?
If Yes, then this is the right place to find out If Kali Linux failed to copy a file from Cd Rom.
Failed to Copy a File From CD-ROM
If you got this error when you trying to install Kali Linux:-
“There was a problem reading data from the CD-ROM. Please make sure it is in the drive. If retrying does not work, you should check the integrity of your CD-ROM“.
then you need to again create a bootable your flash-drive and when you do this then you need to follow these steps.
- Create Your Kali Linux Bootable Drie using Rufus
- Open Rufus in your computer
- then select Kali ISO file.
- Partition Schema – “MBR”
- Target System – “BIOS or UEFI”
- Click on Start
- Then a New Windows will appear now you need to select “ Write in DD image mode “
The 7th step is the most important step, if you don’t do this then you will again got this error, So select Write in DD imge mode option then you will get to see that you could easily install kali linux without any error.

Kali linux there was a problem reading data
There can be a wide variety of reasons for a Kali Linux installation to fail. This could include issues such as a corrupt or incomplete ISO download, not enough disk space on the target machine, etc. The following article will give you some pointers on what to look for when your Kali Linux installation has failed. The following is an example of the dreaded “Red Screen”, indicating the installation encountered a problem.
Hitting the continue button should take you to the Debian installer main menu. From that main menu, browse to the “save debug logs”:
Going into the debug logs, you are presented with several ways of transferring the installation log files away from the failed installation. The most convenient way is usually to start a web server on the machine undergoing the installation.
Once you choose this option, a web server is started from which you are able to download or view several installation log files.
Look over the logs files for anything irregular, or any error messages which look like they might be the cause of your failed installation. In this case, the target machine did not have enough disk space to install Kali Linux, as was seen towards the end of the syslinux log file
