  LibreOffice прекращает поддержку 32bit для Linux

  Одновременно с анонсом новой бета версии LibreOffice 6.3 Beta1, команда LibreOffice заявила, что больше не будет предоставлять 32-битные бинарные файлы Linux.

  Мое дело предоставить новость, а считать ее достойно главной или нет, это уже вопрос модераторов.

  А если кто то использующий (к примеру slackware 32bit) на старом железе не сможет себе поставить версию LO 6.3 то это уже его проблема.

  Так. Давайте не разводить желтуху, а писать заголовки правильно. Например, «LO прекращает предоставление 32-битных сборок под Linux», а не прекращает поддержку. cast Shaman007

  А то звучит, будто кто-то запрещает собрать из исходного кода. Ну печально, придётся потратить несколько часов на сборку этой бестолковой поделки. И то если вам мейнтейнеры дистрибутива не собрали.

  Справедливо, но они еще там написали что не будут собирать, тестировать и сопровождать, т.е. не совсем понятно как это они будут продолжать писать под 32bit без тестирования. Может он вообще собираться не будет 🙁

  Я не разработчик LO и не могу за них говорить. Но даже если это правда и они со своих CI выпилят тестирование 32-битных сборок, то получается эта работа перепадёт на тех, кто собирает или, что хуже, на пользователей. 🙁

  Пусть пользуется OpenOffice.

  Какая работа может быть у детей с третьим пнём или ардуиной?

  Ряд программ, включая Электрон, прекратили поддержку 32 бит, так как им не хватает 2 гигабайт. Мне до недавнего времени на работе вполне хватало виртуальной машины с 1 ядром, 1 гигабайтом памяти и Windows XP. С зимы минимум — 7-64 с 2Г и без свопа, то есть Электрону тоже мало 🙂 Хотя тестовый сервер у нас гораздо мощнее.

  хм. в 32-битной OpenBSD оно и так в пакеты попадает через раз — видимо, криво собирается. на 64 оно есть всегда.

  

  А кто-то пользуется их бинарями? Обычно же из репозиториев ставят, куда из исходников скомпилено на CI. Вот например:

  Открываю ссылку и читаю «LibreOffice 32-bit support still availabl. So, we are ending the provision of 32-bit binaries, but NOT 32-bit support as a whole». Автор, ты точно умеешь в английский? Как я вижу твоя новость не соответствует источнику, все как раз наоборот.

  Да, ещё раз доказывает бредовость 32бит в 2019г.

  Если есть рукастая ЦА, то и попу от стула оторвут, и патчи при необходимости напишут. Я не думаю, что либреофисовцы так прямо даже патчи откажутся принимать. Если нет — ну померла так померла.

  Вот, на ЛОРе была новость, что из Debian Buster выкинут Qt4. Так нашлись люди, решили вопросы, Qt4 вернули обратно. Правда, уже без новости на ЛОРе.

  P.S. Очень хотелось бы поиметь толковую инструкцию по сборке LO, насколько я понимаю, это не совсем тривиальный процесс. Также интересно, как он себя чувствует на «диетических» девайсах типа Raspberry PI.

  Интересно, при переходе 16-32 бита точно так же улюлюкали, или еще и поторапливали закапывать старьё?
