Post by Brahim Salem » Thu Jan 10, 2013 3:11 pm

I tried to edit an active Cinnamon theme and lost my desktop. I restarted my PC, reinstalled Cinnamon, tried to change themes from gnome classic desktop, ran in terminal

gsettings reset-recursively org.cinnamon

but none of these methods had been successful in restoring my desktop! I was wondering how to reset Cinnamon to defaults with terminal or by editing files!! Please help I need my desktop and software now I had lots of work!!heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelp

I saw your post earlier, when you hadn’t ran these commands yet. I don’t know how to reset the Cinnamon settings, except from Cinnamon’s troubleshooter on the panel You could create a new user, and that user should get the default Cinnamon configuration and not yours. I’m not sure where to go from there, I hope somebody else can pitch in.

Reset Cinnamon to its original state

Post by cecilieaux » Sun Nov 15, 2015 9:48 am

got rid of customizations that got me into trouble as a result of tweaking. Is there a similar «back to brand new» command for Cinnamon?

[SOLVED] How manually reset user’s cinnamon settings?

I’ve somehow goofed up my account’s Cinnamon settings. (I’m using Linux Mint 13, but it’s an upgrade from Mint 12, and I retained the content of my ~ directory).

Is there some set of files I can blow away, so that the next time I log into my account, I have a default Cinnamon configuration?

find/grep have been less useful than I hoped.

[Edit] your original post and add [SOLVED] once your question is resolved.

Could you be more specific?

I have LOTS of settings for programs in my home folder that I’m not willing to lose. I made a guest account and cinnamon works fine for it, but my main account gives a fatal error and logs out.

Does anyone know where the settings for cinnamon are in home?
