XApp Status applet?

Now that i have updated to 19.3, i am getting a Detected Problem. This new feature is telling me to add the XApp Status Applet, which «allows applications to provide a tray icon without rendering glitches and with support for HiDPI and symbolic icons».

I only partly understand that. So i’m not sure if i’d even use this, or how important it is or will be.

Is this applet important, is it safe to ignore, and could i install it later if needed? Thanks!

I’ve installed it. It’s a way to deliver relevant notifications to me, the user. You can certainly install it later if you want. You can also install it and then decide you don’t want it after all, and uninstall it or remove it from the panel. Freedom, baby. Yeah!

Решение проблемы с апплетом xApp после перехода на Linux Mint 19.3 «Tracia»

После перехода с 19.2 «Tina» на 19.3 «Tracia», в окне Linux показался восклицательный знак. С чем это связано?

Описание

Разработчики при переходе от 19.2 к 19.3 предлагают заменить панель состояния на xapp status applet, и ждут действий от пользователя. Замена данного приложения происходит гладко лишь в окружении рабочего стола XFCE, я же пользуюсь LXQT.

Если в рабочем столе LXQt щёлкнуть мышью по значку «Восклицательный знак» в строке состояния, выведется окно, в котором фактически нет вариантов действий по решению проблемы. Остается лишь вариант «игнорировать»:

Решение для рабочего стола XFCE

1. Завершил текущий сеанс LXQT «Старт» — «Выйти» — «Выйти из системы»
2. Выбрал рабочий стол XFCE
3. Выполнил вход в систему.
4. При щелчке мышью по значку с восклицательным знаком вывелось другое окно:
   
5. Нажал кнопку «Добавить панель статуса xApp на панель».
6. В открывшемся окне для настройки элементов строки состояния:
   • выбрал элемент xApp строка состояния
     
   • нажал кнопку «Добавить»
   • нажал кнопку «Закрыть».

Проблема решена.

Решение для рабочего стола LXQT

Как такового решения нет, т.к. в LXQT используются, судя из названия, апплеты, написанные на языке QT.

Можно закрыть (правой кнопкой мыши по значку с восклицательным знаком)

Отключаем предупреждение при следующем сеансе пользователя:

1. Старт
2. Параметры
3. Настройки LXQt
   
4. Настройки сеанса
5. Autostart
6. Выключил отчёт при запуске системы
   

Будет выведено предупреждение, что настройки будут применены лишь при следующем входе пользователя в систему.

Проблема также решена. При следующем входе в систему значка [!] не будет.

Если потребуется запустить отчет о системе можно при помощи команды терминала:
mintreport

Другие окружения (Mate, Cinnamon)

Как и в случае LXQt, под любым окружением можно игнорировать предложение установки апплета xApp.

I am using the Cinnamon desktop. If you get a triangle with an explanation point inside showing up in the status bar showing “Some problems were detected which require your attention.” After clicking on it, the message says “Add the XApp Status applet.” .

I just learned about Xapp after trying, literally, FOR WEEKS, to fix the problem with my Mate panel applets. I lost my power off button and things are just randomly moving around, EVERY TIME I BOOT. I installed mate-tweaks and I believe it advised me to disable Xapp, after which, my panel got garbled, again, but lo and behold, I was able to install and put the power off button at the right end of my panel, where it’s always been in the past. I have been searching through forums nearly every time I boot up to find a solution. It may only be a 19.3 issue, as I only ran into it after installing 19.3 on a clean hard drive. I want to know where to go to complain, and I believe I will leave mine disabled, for now. Hopefully Ulyana will bring an easier set of problems to deal with.

it moved my icons to the center of the panel so when I start 4 or more terminals, the panel looks weird. I prefer the icons to be on the far right of the panel. So, I removed this applet, reset my panel and it looks much better. Never understood the purpose of this applet that the system keeps notifying me to add. Oh, I’m using MATE.
