How do I completely remove Steam or .deb file?

I would like to know how to uninstall Steam. I looked everywhere but I cannot find any answers. I think it is worth mentioning that I installed it from a website and not the Software Store.

If you installed directly from the Ubuntu repositories or from the .deb file you can uninstall it with the Ubuntu Software tool.

I clicked on it and it opened up the launcher. This problem is fixed now. I did not remember so I did the process again. There was a remove button. Thanks.

1. Press Ctrl + Alt + T — open a terminal
2. Type sudo apt-get remove steam and hit ↵ Enter.
3. Type sudo apt-get purge steam and hit ↵ Enter.
4. Type rm -rf ~/.local/share/Steam && rm -rf ~/.steam and hit ↵ Enter.
5. Exit the Terminal window.

Sorry, I have tried and it does not work. It says Reading package lists. Done Building dependency tree Reading state information. Done Package ‘steam:i386’ is not installed, so not removed 0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 135 not upgraded.

Answer: 1. Find the .deb file that you used to install the program. 2. Open it and it should open an install launcher. 3. There will be a red button that says remove. Click it and the program will be uninstalled.

How to Fully Uninstall Steam from Ubuntu

Steam is a popular platform for video game distribution and provides a convenient way to purchase and download PC games through a Steam account. Open the terminal either from the context menu, by right-clicking or by pressing “ctrl+alt+t”. Type the following command, and press “Enter”:

Как удалить Steam установленный «браузером» ? Ubuntu 19.10

В менеджере приложений Ubuntu значится steam-launcher, размером 2,9 Мб. Сильно сомневаюсь что его удаления будет достаточно для удаления куда большего по объёму Steam и установленных игр, ещё я протон версии 3.16.9 в Steam устанавливал

потому что пакет называется скорее всего не просто steam. сделай что то вроде

Всё. Нет теперь у тебя больше стима и библиотеки игр

Браузер у тебя ничего не устанавливал, ты скачал deb пакет который и весит 2 с копейками метра, а установил уже его графический установщик deb пакетов.

Если ты как то умудрился вкачать виндовую версию то возможно установщик запустился под wine и стим туда был установлен. Но это космос и очень сомневаюсь.

удали ~/.steam Обычного удаления папки будет достаточно?

Натрави на них du -hs , вторая должна содержать и сам стим и установленные игры, так что размер должен быть большой.

ну так и надо удалять не steam, а steam-launcher.
