From good few weeks I have problem with my usb mouse (ASUS mouse). When I’m using mouse is working fine but when living my pc for 2-3 minutes without touching it than my usb mouse is dissconnected (freezing) [in that time touchpad is working fine] and to use it again have to unplug and plug again.
this is dmesg after that happend:

Re: usb mouse disconnecting
which DE are you using ?
afaik it is your DE’s power setting which is closing usb ports after some time of no activity.
Have you tried another mouse or maybe it is your usb port . Try another port .

Re: usb mouse disconnecting
usb port is ok, yes second mouse is the same.
I’m using GNOME 3 maybe that’s the problem. will take a look on that.

Re: usb mouse disconnecting
Input devices should NOT have usb-autosuspend enabled. Below i post a working example from my system:
. Bus 001 Device 001 ID 1d6b:0002 control = auto, autosuspend_delay_ms = 2000 -- Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub (hub) Bus 001 Device 003 ID 04b4:0033 control = on, autosuspend_delay_ms = 2000 -- Cypress Semiconductor Corp. Mouse (usbhid) Bus 001 Device 004 ID 147e:2016 control = auto, autosuspend_delay_ms = 2000 -- Upek Biometric Touchchip/Touchstrip Fingerprint Sensor (no driver) Bus 001 Device 005 ID 04f2:b217 control = auto, autosuspend_delay_ms = 2000 -- Chicony Electronics Co., Ltd Lenovo Integrated Camera (0.3MP) (uvcvideo) Bus 002 Device 003 ID 046d:c31c control = on, autosuspend_delay_ms = 2000 -- Logitech, Inc. Keyboard K120 for Business (usbhid)
Control is set to ‘on’ for the mouse and keyboard and to auto for the rest. Gnome does not recognize the input devices correctly and set control to ‘auto’.
This is a bug in gnome in my opinion.

I think new kernel update fixed that problem! will let you know soon if I’m right.

Re: usb mouse disconnecting
siamer, autosuspend can be controlled here:
Where X is a number that identifies each usb bus.

Re: usb mouse disconnecting
the powertop app also lets you control it

Re: usb mouse disconnecting
So how can we change control to ‘on’ ?
Either use a script to write the values or a tool that does it for you.
For convinience i use tlp, a tool that can detect input devices and set the values properly.
You can also set a blacklist of usb devices in the configuration file, in case you have input devices that are not detected.
This tool also does a lot of other configuration, so i recommend using a script if you only want to change one or two values, to keep it simple.

So it should be on, yes? I have it on. Also I dont use gnome so its not related to that. I got KDE 3.6.2-1-ck
And I dont understand how it could be that suspend thing because over night when nothing really happens on my computer it never disconnects.
But when I fire up a HD movie on one screen and quake live on another one it can disconnect many times/minute.
USB device connecting and disconnecting repeatedly
I was having some problems booting into Ubuntu. After trying to reboot for sometime, I eventually opened the 4.4.0-31 recovery mode. while it was booting into recovery mode, it said that /dev/ubuntu-gnome-vg needs to fsck manually. While this was going on the touchscreen for the computer was connecting and disconnecting repeatedly. The screen was showing this:
usb 2-7: new full-speed USB device number 42 using using xchi_hcd usb 2-7: New USB device found, idVendor=04f3, idproduct=016f usb 2-7: New USB device strings: Mfr=4, Product =14, SerialNumber=0 usb 2-7: Product: Touchscreen usb 2-7: Manufacturer: ELAN usb 2-7: ep 0x2 - rounding interval to 64 microframes, ep desc says 80 microframes usb 2-7: USB disconnect, device number 42.
and then this repeats with the device being 43. How do I stop this so that I can actually try and fix the problem on the disk. Also if you guys have some advice regarding /dev/ubuntu-gnome-vg needing to be fsck’d that be great.

This looks suspiciously similar like a broken USB cable or port. I can say that for sure because I’m using such: every time I’m touching a cable of my USB hub, I see in /var/log/syslog a wall of those messages about (dis) connection, and increasing device number; and the connected mouse resets its sensitivity.
Just for the record, here’s an example of mine log:
