Pairing LOGITECH K380 in Ubuntu 20.04
I connected to my new K380 without the pairing process using bluetooth manager. After that, using for some time, I notice that the keyboard was not answering anymore, and I’ve always to reconnect it to have it working. I’d like to know if there is a commandline way to get it paired, because the bluetooth manager says that there is a «Pairing problem with the device». I’m using Ubuntu 20.04 with a Dell Latitude e5450 and Intel Wireless 7265 (rev 59)
This worked for me on Ubuntu Mate + Logitech K380 keyboard. The GUI bluetooth tools on Ubuntu Mate didn’t show me the pairing code from the keyboard despite repeated pairing attempts. Doing it «manually» via bluetoothctl finally worked. Now the keyboard re-connects automatically. Thanks for your hard work.

The author of the question provided the following solution.
Install bluetoothctl if it is not already installed. In Ubuntu 20.04 it comes with the default install.
In terminal, run the command bluetoothctl :
$ bluetoothctl Agent registered
[MX Vertical]# agent on Agent is already registered
[MX Vertical]# scan on Discovery started [CHG] Controller DC:53:60:0E:0A:C8 Discovering: yes [CHG] Device 34:88:5D:EF:19:51 RSSI: -49 [CHG] Device 34:88:5D:EF:19:51 Class: 0x00002540 [CHG] Device 34:88:5D:EF:19:51 Icon: input-keyboard [CHG] Device 88:0F:10:87:00:F1 RSSI: -87
In this output, the MAC address of the keyboard is this one: 34:88:5D:EF:19:51. Copy it! Then stop the scan:
[MX Vertical]# scan off [CHG] Device 88:0F:10:87:00:F1 RSSI is nil [CHG] Device 34:88:5D:EF:19:51 RSSI is nil [CHG] Controller DC:53:60:0E:0A:C8 Discovering: no Discovery stopped
[MX Vertical]# trust 34:88:5D:EF:19:51 [CHG] Device 34:88:5D:EF:19:51 Trusted: yes Changing 34:88:5D:EF:19:51 trust succeeded
And pair it. Now the passkey shown in terminal (300892 in this case) must be typed in keyboard, and after that an Enter should be pressed. It’ll looks like this:
[MX Vertical]# pair 34:88:5D:EF:19:51 Attempting to pair with 34:88:5D:EF:19:51 [CHG] Device 34:88:5D:EF:19:51 Connected: yes [agent] Passkey: 300892 [agent] Passkey: 00892 [agent] Passkey: 0892 [agent] Passkey: 892 [agent] Passkey: 92 [agent] Passkey: 2 [agent] Passkey:

When pairing a logitech k380 keyboard with Linux Mint 19 Cinnamon I get the message «Please enter the following PIN on «Keyboard K380». Then press «Return» on the keyboard.»
When entering the PIN nothing happens. Also pressing the cancel button doesn’t work.

Looking on the forums I see a few mentions of bluetooth keyboard issues for Linux Mint 19 but those all appear to be unrelated to your issue. If you’re able to complete troubleshooting for this (optionally by taking help from the forums) and can determine the cause to be in a component maintained by Linux Mint, this issue can be reopened.

Unable to Stay Connected to Logitech K380 Bluetooth Keyboard
Post by Pleiades246 » Tue May 19, 2020 4:46 pm
I’m using an AMD Lenovo laptop running Linux Mint 19.2 Cinnamon with the 4.15.0-101-generic kernel.
I just got Logitech’s K380 keyboard and am having trouble connecting it. In the Bluetooth GUI, it sees the device as discoverable. When I try to pair, I am prompted to enter a code, which seems to work (it accepts my input), but when I hit enter, it just spins and freezes.
I tried going the terminal route with bluetoothctl. Again, it sees the device, but this time it successfully pairs when I enter the code. However, it immediately disconnects. And when I try to reconnect, it fails. The terminal output during this is:
[BM30X mouse]# pair 34:88:5D:EC:A1:5B Attempting to pair with 34:88:5D:EC:A1:5B [CHG] Device 34:88:5D:EC:A1:5B Connected: yes [agent] Passkey: 991914 [agent] Passkey: 991914 [agent] Passkey: 991914 [agent] Passkey: 991914 [agent] Passkey: 991914 [agent] Passkey: 991914 [agent] Passkey: 991914 [CHG] Device 34:88:5D:EC:A1:5B Connected: no Failed to pair: org.bluez.Error.AuthenticationCanceled [BM30X mouse]# connect 34:88:5D:EC:A1:5B Attempting to connect to 34:88:5D:EC:A1:5B Failed to connect: org.bluez.Error.Failed [BM30X mouse]#
Device 34:88:5D:EC:A1:5B (public) Name: Keyboard K380 Alias: Keyboard K380 Class: 0x00002540 Icon: input-keyboard Paired: yes Trusted: yes Blocked: no Connected: no LegacyPairing: yes UUID: Service Discovery Serve.. Any ideas? I’m really confused because it’s paired but just won’t connect. I’ve gone through all the threads I can find regarding this particular keyboard and nothing has worked. Also, I tried using an older kernel, but that didn’t work either.
Edit: I tried updating to Mint 19.3, but got the exact same issue.

Problem with logitech k380 keyboard
Post by gabrielgrs » Mon Jul 05, 2021 4:46 pm
I bought a Logitech keyboard, the k380 model, I’ve been using it for a few hours and I noticed that sometimes it has a typing lag. I tested it with Windows and it worked perfectly there, so I would like to know if anyone has had a similar problem and knows how to solve it?

Linux: how to fix the Logitech k380 keyboard Bluetooth connection problem.
I recently installed Linux (Debian) as my base operating system on my Lenovo Thinkpad T470 laptop, but in the process I ran into certain drawbacks, my Logitech k380 wireless keyboard did not connect correctly through Bluetooth, for this I looked and I could find some solutions .
I’m going to tell you how to solve it.
1 – Make sure your keyboard is not connected to another device on the same channel.
2 – Have your system updated. (in my case Debian )
3 – Check that the bluetoothctl module is installed
if no message like the one above appears, we must install it
sudo apt-get install bluez bluetooth blueman
4 – Check the bluetooth status
sudo /etc/init.d/bluetooth status -l
if the service is stopped
sudo systemctl start bluetooth or sudo service bluetooth start
6 – Scan Bluetooth devices
7 – Trust the keyboard device using the mac address format example 30:3F:3F:3F:3F:3F
8 – Pair with the new trust device using the mac address format example 30:3F:3F:3F:3F:3F and enter the pairing code that will appear in the console and at the end press enter
9 – Connect with the new paired device using the mac address format example 30:3F:3F:3F:3F:3F
The [bluetooth] identifier will change for the keyboard or device name.
That’s all, you have successfully connected your bluetooth device and you can also do it with other devices.
./Another tip!
Some users have had problems with the function keys of the k380 keyboard, here is a link that explains how to solve it.. https://github.com/jergusg/k380-function-keys-conf
