Here all the supported and unsupported WiFi card list for Hackintosh. This is not my work.All this list compiled by @Hervé from OSXLatitude Forum. I just posted this cause more people will find them more people will get helped.If you guys find more cards let me know.

Atheros kext for Mac OSX High Sierra, Mojave and Catalina

Just use your favourite kext injector tool, like kext utility, kext wizard or hackintool. If you use clover latest version, you just need to put it on clover/kext/other folder.

Atheros installer for macOS Mojave and Catalina 2.0

Ever since macOS Mojave came out (I mean the first DP) Apple removed the support for Atheros based WiFi Adapters from the IO80211Family.kext, so to fix it we need to add the AirPortAtheros40.kext to the Extensions manually.

After each clean install the AirPortAtheros40.kext needs to be installed and after clean installing Mojave DPs after few times I decides to create this app to save some time.

How to use it:

This application will install the missing AirPortAtheros40.kext into /System/Library/Extensions and after the installation is done and once you reboot your computer the Atheros based WiFi adapters will be enabled.

The installation is the first step of the process and it is fast but the next steps which are repairing the permission on /System/Library/Extensions and rebuilding the system caches might take a while so please wait until you were asked to reboot your computer.

I’m using a TP-Link WDN4800 with an Atheros chipset and it works on other similar hardware.

Disable SIP before running the installer.

• Added the Atheros Support for macOS Catalina.
• Added macOS detection for necessary file installation.
• Backing up the original IO80211Family.kext for macOS Catalina to desktop.

Known issues:

• No 5GHz network detection.
• Rebuilding system caches with SIP enable ends up with errors.
• After each major macOS Catalina update you may need to run the installer.

How to Enable Atheros WiFi on macOS [Clover/OpenCore]

By following this guide, you’ll be able to enable Atheros WiFi on macOS using Clover or OpenCore Bootloader.

Overview

Back in the day, Apple used Atheros based WiFi Cards in its Mac lineups but Apple dropped the support for Atheros based WiFi Cards with the release of macOS Mojave. However, it is still possible to use the compatible Atheros based Cards on new macOS versions (up to Big Sur). Note that this is not the ideal solution and we recommend you to install a compatible WiFi/BT Card for full functionality.

• This guide is limited to macOS Big Sur only. The kexts do not load on macOS Monterey and later.

STEP 1: Add Required Kext

To enable the WiFi support, you’ll need to add HS80211Family.kext and one of the AirPortAtheros40.kext . These two kexts are needed together to work in conjunction in order to enable the WiFi.

1. Download HS80211Family and AirPortAtheros40 from the downloads section of this forum.
2. Mount your ESP.

For Clover:
If you’re using Clover, copy both the kexts to EFI/Clover/Kext/Others

For OpenCore:
If you’re using OpenCore, copy both the kexts to EFI/OC/Kexts . You’ll also need to add the kext entries in the Kernel section of your config.plist.

• If the kext is already present in the directory, replace them with a new version
• For OpenCore, HS80211Family.kext should load first and AirPortAtheros40.kext just after

STEP 2: Restart your System

After performing all the above steps, restart your system for the applied changes to take effect.
You can see a WiFi icon in the menu bar now. If not, you can enable it from System Preferences>Network>WiFi>Show Wi-Fi status in the menu bar.
