Macbook нет значка wifi

Wifi interface missing

I’ve a Macbook Pro 13″ Late 2011 model, and it has been working perfectly. I’ve been using it for almost 3.5 years now, and kept it up to date. It has been running El Capitan for the last two months.

Two days ago, the wifi icon stopped working as it should. The on/off functions weren’t happening, and I did a reboot. After the reboot, the wifi icon reads: «Wifi: no hardware installed».

I tried the following things:

The wifi started working again, for about 1 day and the same thing happened all over. Repeating the above, no luck. The wifi is still out. I have also tried a clean-install of El Capitan, and the wifi interface does not show up.

PS: Bluetooth is working fine, I’m currently using a magic mouse and keyboard. so I doubt it can be a wifi card issue.

Here’s a screenshot. Any ideas?

Hi Nubz N and Leroydouglas,

Thank you for your feedback, very much appreciated.

Under system report > network > wifi, I was only seeing software information.

Despite all my attempts, I figured that the wifi card must have gone haywire. I took my Macbook to Apple Authorised Reseller, and the technician at the service centre diagnosed it and said that the wifi card needs to be replaced. Usually, they need to order the parts which can take 3-4 weeks, but luckily they had one available. I had it replaced, and the wifi is working normally.

I’ll try the power cycle of the airport card next time I run into a similar issue, hoping it to be not anytime soon! Maybe, someone else with a similar issue can try the airport power cycle and update this thread if it helped them.

Thanks again for your feedback!

No Wi-Fi icon on menu bar in Recovery Assistant

if you’re stuck on the Recovery Assistant because it’s asking you to connect to Wi-Fi or restart, but there is no Wi-Fi option in the menu bar, try restarting again in recovery mode, ie for the 2021 Mac models this means that after the computer is shut down, you do a quick press of the power button immediately followed by a long press of the power button, held down until you see the Mac restart in recovery mode.

Activate Mac — no WiFi menu to select network

I have a 16″ 2021 MacBook with M1 Max chip. I needed to erase it because of some problems I ran into. Once it rebooted and I selected the language it needs to be activated. It says to select a WiFi network from the WiFi icon at the top right of the menu bar. But there is no WiFi icon there. There is a battery icon and a select input icon (to select alphabet.) And that’s it.

How do I get the WiFi menu to appear?

If you cannot connect to Wi-Fi in macOS Recovery, try these options:

  • If you have an Ethernet (female) to USB-C (male) adapter, use it to connect your Mac to an Ethernet cable.
  • If Ethernet isn’t available, and you have a second Mac, use your second Mac to restore (not revive) your 16″ MacBook Pro. The restore process reinstalls the firmware, macOS, and macOS Recovery. It also attempts to activate your Mac, if Activation Lock is disabled. (To disable Activation Lock, check the Find My app on one of your Apple devices, or on the web. If your 16″ MacBook Pro appears in your list of devices, remove it.)

There is no Wi-Fi icon on the first step titled “Activate Mac” I see the menu with various options on the right side and on the left side is language and input control, no option for selecting Wi-Fi. My iMac 24 doesn’t have a Ethernet port.

Erased all contents on M1 MacBook Air. It can’t see the Wi-Fi network I want to set up a 2021 MacBook Air with a new identity. It was working properly before I erased all content and settings. It won’t get beyond the “connect to a network“ prompt. No Wi-Fi icon, no option in the Apple menu except restart or erase. Have restarted and done another erase. No joy. How do I fix this, please?

It is asking for my network and then after still doesn’t let me pass that slide How can I check my diognositcs for my MacBook. With holding the D-button on the keyboard, it doesn’t let me pass the network selection.

I don’t have an ethernet nor another mac that works. How do i fix this and access the wifi. there is wifi just no option to join it>

Very Top right. The Wi-Fi icon is grayed out. Very hard to see.

I just had a similar situation with my MacBook Pro. It started on a black screen that said Activate Mac across the top and «Recovery Assistant» in the menu bar. It was asking me to connect to the Internet with either WiFi or Ethernet. But there was no wifi menu available nor a wifi symbol near the upper top right corner of the screen, only an A icon and a battery icon.

After digging through a handful of almost-helpful articles online, I found one that did the trick. It said to hold down the physical power button on the Mac until it powered off. Wait 30-seconds, then power it back on.

As I did so, there were a couple of odd schematics that showed up during the reboot (one looked like a mouse from the bottom, the other looked like a menu bar in miniature)… but eventually, I ended up at the Activate Mac screen again AND the wifi icon was in the upper right corner of the screen. That allowed me to manually enter my network name and password under the «Join Other Network» option.
