Низкий FPS в Dota 2
Здравствуйте. Не пойму, почему показатель кадров в секунду при минимальных настройках не повышается больше 30. Драйвер проверил — стоит проприетарный. На Linux Mint этот показатель был 50-60. Может, подскажете что?

Manjaro linux dota 2

Still have the issue right now. I’m running on Ubuntu 20.04. The game launches, I can enter a match, sometimes, but after about 5 minutes the game freezes and bugs my whole PC at the same time. Or I could be in demo messing with the inventory and it still happens.
Have to hard reboot the PC every time. Annoying as F. If this goes on I’ll give a try to LoL.
Exactly my issue. Before the «fix» I wasn’t able to start game, after the «fix» the game keeps freezing and sometimes crashing GPU driver.
Not really. It’s not one specific issue that all people have. People have really many, different issues after last updates and it’s hard to say how they are linked to each other.

Still no luck, days later. I launch with -gl option, launches fine. I launch without it for vulkan, it loads the shaders, launches, I get the Dota emblem on my screen with a black background, then crashes with no errors.
If there’s a way to debug this I’m all ears.

You can try the basic debug way — start Steam from a terminal and launch the game. The output should hopefully mention something.
I personally didn’t have a single problem since they fixed it, runs perfectly (I use Vulkan).

It works only with the -gl argument.
If i’m trying to run Dota without any argument or with -vulkan the terminal show me:
My driver is ok to use Vulkan.

That’s an ignorant thing to say. There are lots of people who migrated from Windows who are still learning the ropes of using Linux. Not only that, it’s hard for non-technical people to troubleshoot Linux. As there are many non-technical people using Linux nowadays, mostly thanks to Ubuntu, Linux Mint, etc, which makes it easier to use Linux.

This may help if you compile mesa directly from their git repository like I do
but after a issue report about it was later fixed with commit https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/mesa/mesa/-/commit/83c92a48b77e6ce6f4dd2875886d7eff10ab426f and both OpenGL(zink) and Vulkan(radv) work for me now
Another thing I learnt during all this is that if you have both amdvlk and radv installed, steam compiles shaders using amdvlk but later when using radv. the shaders that were compiled by amdvlk were executed on amdvlk and radv. I set dota 2 to use radv but I left steam to implicit choice which it by defaults to amdvlk
I wanted to know if it was intentional for them to compile shaders using one Vulkan implementation ( e.g. amdvlk ) and execute them on another ( e.g. radv )
I wanted to increase my understanding of this before I start saying it was an bug/issue but valve reviewer closed it saying I modified the mesa disk cache state and that I should talk to the mesa dev’s about this issue.
I didn’t modify anything and too my understanding Vulkan allows you to have more than one ICD. This is one of the things I like about Vulkan. I can have multiple Vulkan implementations ( amdvlk, amdgpu-pro, radv ), use them all at the same time and choose which implementation to use.

Well done! I guess after this sentence you already lost most of the normal Debian and Debian upstream users!

I got windows, but since the last update game keeps crashing, pc freezing, fps drops, windows explorer stops responding etc..

I’m also having the freeze/crash problem on fedora 33. When you say that the mesa patch works for you do you mean it fixes the initial problem of the game not starting or are you all talking about the freeze/crash?
fedora 34 is mesa 21.0.1, do you think it’s enough to fix the crash or do I need to compile the latest one?

I have Manjaro with mesa-20.3.4-3 and Dota seems to work well now. Everything was okay with Dota, then there was a Dota update and I had problem starting Dota, then there was another Dota update and I could run Dota but it was freezing really often and sometimes even my PC was getting unresponsive. Then there were many system updates, but not any mesa update (20.3.4-3 when I had issues and exactly same version when I have no issues), and now Dota works well again, it’s not freezing. When I look at the list of system updates I think that the only update that could chagne anything was linux kernel update (I’m using 5.11.6-1 now and I think it was 5.9.something before). Things like GTK or SMB shouoldn’t matter.
Honestly… I have no idea what was the problem and how to fix that because people seem to report many different issues since last 2 Dota updates, also often they report same issues, like freezing, but they see different error messages in terminal.

I merely ran general updates, I didn’t compile anything. There were a bunch of mesa updates.
It fixed it so that the game starts. I’ve not had freezing/crashing.
