Microsoft Designer Bluetooth Mouse is not detected in 10.10.3
Microsoft Designer Bluetooth Mouse is not getting detected as a bluetooth mouse on OSX 10.10.3. During pairing, it just shows up as a bluetoth device and after some time, there is a popup that no mouse is connected. Also, when you try to add the mouse though Mouse->Add a Bluetooth Mouse screen, the mouse is not gettng detected.
But the mouse works once its paired, but its not seen as a Mouse by OSX. Its just being detected as a generic bluetooth device.

I solved the problem this way:
2. Push the power button for more than 5 seconds (try to avoid pushing other buttons)
3. Blue light underneath starts blinking and the mouse appear on the bluetooth devices list
Hi Kaukrish, this is how I solved it!
Here’s a little late reply:
I had exactly the same problem, this what I did..
It seems like The Microsoft Designer Mouse don’t like to be the second woman.
So to make her happy again, do this:
1. Disconnect all other devices that are paired with your computer (In the Bluetooth menu in System Preferences. do a «mouse over» over the other bluetooth devices and click the X and disconnect all of them)’
2. Push the little button on the bottom side of the mouse to re-connect it to your computer. Hopefully this works for you as it did for me!
3. When the Microsoft Designer Mouse is paired, connect all other devices again.
She seems to be OK with you fooling around with other bluetooththongs, as long as you hook up with her first. 🙂

Can’t sync Microsoft Designer Bluetooth Mouse to my Macbook
I have a 13″ Macbook (Aluminum) late 2008 running 10.11.6 (El Capitan) and am trying to pair with my brand new Microsoft Designer Bluetooth Mouse but my computer isn’t recognizing any devices. How do I get my computer to recognize the mouse?

Have you checked to see if the Microsoft mouse drivers are suited to El Capitan. Apple specifically designed a mouse for this OS.
I have the same mouse, running OS X 10.11.6 on a MacBook Pro 13in (Unibody Mid 2009), and the same issue. Oddly the mouse shows up in bluetooth paring on my iPhone6+ but nothing on my Mac. Even more odd is that my iPhone6+ will show in the pairing on the Mac even though the mouse won’t. I did try going into mice and seeing if it would show/pair there and it did not.
I see a few threads reporting bluetooth mouse issues with 10.11 and 10.11.6 . thinking about reloading with 10.10 to see if that helps.
I have found the cause of issues. The Microsoft Designer Mouse is bluetooth v4.0 compatible only (according to Microsoft) and has a limited range of Mac OS X compatibility of 10.9-10.10 (again according to MS). My MacBook Pro 13in (Unibody Mid 2009) has Bluetooth v2.1 which explains why it does not work. There are many issue reports with bluetooth pairing across multiple OS that likely relate to bluetooth version compatibility.
Luckily for me I have another bluetooth MS mouse that I use with my Asus Transformer. The Designer Mouse works fine on my Transformer and the other bluetooth MS mouse works fine on my MacBook so I will just switch them. Good luck to you and hope this helps anyone else with issues related to this mouse.
How to add your mouse device to PC and Mac (e.g. Microsoft Designer Bluetooth Mouse)
I recently bought a new Bluetooth mouse for my laptop… a Microsoft Designer Bluetooth Mouse. It’s a very beautiful mouse with a very good quality. It has a magnetic battery cover for it’s two AAA batteries that are easily mounted on the same side. The mouse clicks are firm and the entire mouse gives you a nice feel while the scroll wheel has a good texture. The only think you might not like is the click noise, something that I personally like even if it’s quite loud.
This mouse is very easy to connect to your Windows or macOS device.
For Windows devices:
1. Go to Windows Settings
2. Go to Devices and choose Bluetooth
3. Press the power/pair button on the back of your mouse. Keep that button pressed for around 5 seconds until the blue light starts blinking and the device will appear on the Bluetooth devices list.
4. Press the Pair button to get your mouse connected.
Your mouse is now connected and you can start using it.
For MacOS devices:
1. Go to System Preferences -> Bluetooth
2. Press the power/pair button on the back of your mouse. Keep that button pressed for around 5 seconds until the blue light starts blinking and the device will appear on the Bluetooth devices list.
3. Press the Pair button to get your mouse connected.
And that should be all … just go to System Preferences -> Mouse to configure your mouse.
