VLAN (Virtual Local Area Network) is a technology that can solve broadcasting issues. A LAN can be divided into several VLANs logically, and only the hosts in a same VLAN can communicate with each other.

Here is a configuration example of 802.1Q VLAN for TP-Link routers.

As the following figure shows, the switch connects to two different groups. It is required that the computers in the two groups cannot communicate with each other, but both of them can access the internet via the router.

Configuration Scheme

Configure 802.1Q VLAN on the router:

1) Create VLAN 2 and VLAN 3, and add port 5 (the LAN port) to both VLANs with the egress rule as Tagged.

Configure 802.1Q VLAN on the switch:

1) Create VLAN 2. Add port 1, 2 to VLAN 2.

2) Create VLAN 3. Add port 1, 3 to VLAN 3.

Note: The PVID value “-” means you don’t need to configure the PVID for the corresponding port, just leave them as the default value.

The router is demonstrated with TL-R600VPN, and the switch is demonstrated with TL-SG105E. The following section shows how to configure 802.1Q VLAN on the router and switch.

Choose the menu Network >VLAN > VLAN, click to load the configuration page. Create VLAN 2, 3 and add port 5 to both of the VLANs with the egress rule as Tag.

Specify the egress rule of port 1 as tagged in VLAN 2and VLAN 3; specify the egress rule of port 2 in VLAN 2as untagged; specify the egress rule of port 3 in VLAN 3 as untagged.

Choose the menu VLAN > 802.1Q PVID Setting to load the configuration page. Configure the PVIDs for port 2-3 as 2 and 3 respectively, and leave the PVID of port 1 as the default value 1.

1. Выберите режим «Указать вручную» и введите все выделенные параметры вручную, как показано ниже. Сначала проверьте данные у своего интернет-провайдера. Для настройки выполните следующие действия.

1) Выберите режим «Указать вручную», введите «Идентификатор VLAN для Интернет», предоставленный вашим провайдером.

Например, DoDo NBN предоставляет VLAN100 для интернет-сервиса, пользователь DoDo должен ввести 100 для «Идентификатор VLAN для Интернет».

2) Проверьте параметр «Тег 802.1Q» и оставьте настройки по умолчанию.
3) Введите два разных случайных числа (от 2 до 4094) для «Идентификатор VLAN для IP-телефона» и «Идентификатор VLAN для IPTV».
4) Выберите «Интернет» для всех портов LAN и нажмите «Сохранить».

2. Для пользователей ExStream (SG), Unifi (MY) или Maxis (MY):
