which command is linux’s netview?

In windows, I can use netview to see all the computers on the LAN network, but what’s the corresponding command on linux?

open your terminal and type as who -a . that will list all information .

else you can use nmap also . great network tool.

you can get it by sudo apt-get install nmap

if you assume you IP starts from

192.168.1.1 then you can list all Computers connected with the LAN with this command

The above command will scan from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.255 IP’s and list you which is up and which is down .

commandin terminal to see computers on Lan.

Note that arp shows the IPs that the computer has contacted from cache so it doesn’t list all devices on the network. One should use a ping loop to contact all the hosts first then use arp .

net view on Windows is used for Active Directory. You can emulate this with Samba.

$ sudo apt-get install samba 

This will install net commands that you can use to join the Windows domain, such as:

$ net help join Usage: net rpc join -U [%%password] Join a domain username Name of the admin user password Password of the admin user, will prompt if not specified type Can be one of the following: MEMBER Join as member server (default) BDC Join as BDC PDC Join as PDC

Net Activity Viewer

Netactview is a graphical network connections viewer for Linux, similar in functionality with Netstat. It includes features like process information, host name retrieval, automatic refresh, sorting, filtering and csv file save. It has a fully featured GTK 2 graphical interface.

• Shows all udp, tcp, udp6 and tcp6 network connections in an automatically refreshed list.
• The presented information includes protocol names, addresses, ports and connection states along with host names and process information.
• The connections list can be sorted by any of its columns.
• The connections list can be filtered.
• Refresh rates ranging from 1/16 to 4 seconds, or no automatic refresh can be selected.
• Connections can be seen for 3 seconds after they are closed giving you the chance to spot connections that last very little time.
• The unestablished connections can be filtered out.
• Multiple connections list snapshots can be saved in a formatted text file or in a csv file.

Enable snaps on Manjaro Linux and install Net Activity Viewer
