Nvidia, no external display [SOLVED]
Post by PhilippeR » Thu Mar 03, 2022 7:07 am
Hello,
I have a laptop with both Windows 11 and Linux Mint. It has dual graphics (laptop + HDMI).
On Windows, no problem : both displays are working fine at the same time.
On LM, the external display was not recognized. I have tested many things, but with few success.
Finally, I have reinstalled a fresh LM and install kernel 5.13.
But no additional display recognized.
I have tried the Xserver-xorg driver. Then I have a significant improvement : The external display is recognized. But the screen is black, and I can see only the cursor of the mouse moving on the screen. Windows and background are not displayed. When I exit the session, I can see the LM green logo on both screens.
Then, if I change the driver to Nvidia-510, nothing change, and I have access to the Nvida-prime-applet. It’s configured to Performance Mode. If I try to switch to Set on Demand, I go back to the initial situation, without recognition of the external screen.
My config :

It seems that I am close to the solution, but I don’t find it. Could someone help me?
Thanks in advance.

Laptop not detecting external monitor
Post by andisk » Wed Jul 22, 2020 10:34 am
I am using Mint 20 Ulyana/Win10 dual boot on my Lenovo Flex 5 laptop. I tried connecting to an external monitor using an HDMI cable but it is not detected. To check that there is no issue with the monitor or the cable, I tried the same thing logging in to windows 10 and it works fine.
Display settings in mint does not detect any external monitor.
My external monitor is DELL P2317H
How do I solve this issue?
Here is screenshot of xrandr -verbose
