Mine’s the opposite, work and everywhere else is fine, home is not. Home is WPA2-PSK with AES encryption, work is WPA-PSK, my parents is probably WEP.
So there seems to be no rhyme or reason. I’ve been in my office for 90min and it’s already started. I love the phone, but I don’t think it can last all day on LTE only and I can’t be tethered to a wall. I may have to start thinking of looking elsewhere.

Yeah at least mine works at work. I’ve just been using 4g once I get home

I have not had the problem at all for the last few weeks, but I didn’t change anything or update my phone at all

I’ve been having this problem with wifi in general. Not at a specific location. It says it’s connected but nothing loads no matter which settings I change around, yet my galaxy tab works fine on the same router

Haven’t found anything yet. Still have to turn wifi off and on occasionally to re-connect. Works fine all day at the office, but not at home.

No one has been able to identify it yet. I’m hoping that if we ever see the JB update (and in turn, the freezing of hell), that it might fix the issue.

I have two One X (PJ46100), both have problems with WiFi connections at home.
I have two APs at home, one LinkSys and one Comtrend, both wifi-N, both same config and WEP security. Problem seems to appear more times on the Comtrend AP, but maybe it’s because is the one that is most used.
Phones are also upgraded to lastest software (3.16.75.2 — Android 4.1.1).
Both phones are from the same batch.
Usually, turning off wifi and turning it on again fixes the problem, but there are times when the phone gets stuck trying to turn off the wifi, then the only way is rebooting the phone. After rebooting (and/or turning wifi back on) all works great until the next hang.
Phones aren’t rooted and while mine is full of apps, the other one has the basics (Whatsapp, G+, and two banking apps), and both fail the same.

It’s all about the update. After you update your phone with the last version (in my case 3.18), the WiFi link speed is low (11mbps). I’ve tested with three OneX! All three had no problems before updating to the last version. Last night I updated the 3rd phone. Before update, knowing about the problem I had with the other two phones, I made some internet tests (HD YouTube, Speedtest, and so on); everything was fine. Exactly after the update, the phone has full WiFi connection but the link speed is low and the internet speed gets stuck. There is no way to downdate your software. only if you have S-OFF, or installing a custom rom. By the time HTC will take into consideration that the problem it’s really there, we will have another phone and forget about OneX.

I think it’s a WPA2 problem and it’s not fixed by the new software update. WPA networks seem to work fine.

I also think there is something wrong and I don’t understand. I know it’s not my NETGEAR Router because since I’ve had the HTC EVO and HTC One X everything has been great — speaking in terms of WIFI that is. I think I also remember, it was about the time the HTC ONE X software upgrade came out and now I’m constantly getting booted on and off the WiFi; so annoying. I don’t know what the problem is, or if there is just some glitch in the phone, but please HELP, I’m sick and tired of trying to find out what’s wrong!! AHHHHHHHHHHHH

With me this purely came from the update to 4.1.1. My WiFi works for about 30 seconds then I just get network error despite having fill signal.
I?ve been in contact with HTC for a couple of months now trying to sort the issue out but they will not admit that it is an update problem and are more interested in me sending the handset to them for a nice charge of ?25. I?ve asked if it is possible to re-install the system update as it appears to have glitched and they replied with the following: —
Regarding the rolling back the update, it is possible, but I wouldn’t recommend that, and it’s called Bootloader unlocking, and it nullifies your warranty (for further details, please visit Welcome to HTCdev).
So basically they are telling me that I can try and fix my phone but they cancel my warranty or I can send it to them and pay ?25 and they might not be able to fix it. Nice customer service HTC. Although I?m sorry that others are having this problem it is comforting to know that I am not on my own. I?ve told HTC to cancel the ticket and I will go back to EE and get a new handset off the insurance.

We have 2 HTC One X phones in the house. One works fine with our WiFi network, the other one does not. The updates installed on both phones are the same. Problem is one of them eats our data usage. We have had this problem for about 3 months now, and there seems to be no solution in sight.
How to diagnose and fix WiFi problems on the HTC One X
If you’ve been having some WiFi connectivity issues with your HTC One X, you’re definitely not alone. And unfortunately, it looks like some of these problems could be hardware related, rather than something that could be easily fixed in an OTA software update. According to the maker of the video above:
When I gently squeeze the side back of my phone the signal gets stronger, almost as strong as my comparison, the HTC Desire … This WiFi problem is definitely hardware related and not due to a software bug (as I first thought). I have reported the phone DOA (dead on arrival) and I hope HTC will address this issue as soon as possible since it seems to be a common problem.
This is apparently due to a loose internal WiFi antenna connection. To diagnose the problem for yourself, just squeeze the back side of your phone gently, between the camera lens and the volume buttons. Using an app like WiFi Analyzer, check and see if your signal improves while squeezing, and drops back down again when you let go.
Negative side effects of this problem include reduced battery life, Bluetooth interference, and (obviously) poor WiFi performance. And while fixing it is do-able, it definitely requires a certain amount of braveness. Here are the instructions, word-for-word, from one person who attempted a fix:
- Remove the Sim and Sim-Tray
- Duck tape up the power and volume buttons, to save time fiddling with putting them back in afterwards.
- Out of the recommended methods to open your phone below I would prefer to use my finger nail and or a guitar plectrum, I imagine this to be the best way to avoid scratches and damaging the case/screen. BE CAREFUL not to push the tool used too far inside the phone as this will cause damage.
- I would probably use a soldering iron to make a secure connection between the pins, I fear that just bending the pins up slightly might develop the same issue again later on.
Luckily, HTC is aware of the problem; an official HTC rep is even monitoring the XDA thread where a lot of this conversation is occurring. Therefore, if you’re anything like me, you’ll probably want to wait and see if HTC starts some kind of official exchange program or offers another solution.

Help One X+ WiFi Issues
I got my one x+ yesterday i.e. November 4, 2012, and already have this issue of wifi initially recognizing my home network and then refusing to connect while i am standing next to the router. Now wifi fixer is showing that it goes to scanner and then immediately after a second goes to inactive. Is there a solution available, i am thoroughly disappointed by this issue otherwise its a superb phone.
I have narrowed down the issue to my SIM card. After one factory reset, I didn’t insert my SIM card module, and went ahead with the settings. The phone till the end showed the all the available networks around me. The moment I inserted my SIM card module, the wifi networks just disappear and wont come back.

This is the same issue as mine, I think. That makes two of us (at least) with the same issue. I’ll see what happens if I take the SIM card out.

I had an online chat with the HTC support desk, and they showed my how to do a Wipe Cache Partition. After that I just rebooted by wireless router and modem and everything seems to be OK now.
The Wipe Cach Partition is a bit of a drastic step and I suggest you have someone on hand to help you do it. Doing an online chat with the guys on the HTC support site would help. I managed to contact them via the ‘chat online’ at Contact us.

I just have te phone aswell, and guess what! same issue. It sees the network but doesn’t connect.
I even replaced the router with a new one and weirdly enough I had wifi for like 1 day. Then it dissapeared again.. Every other device like the Ipad, Galaxy note and and LG windows phone seem fine. This is really bad from HTC, after what the issues with the previous ONE X.. No idea what now.

After what I said before, I restarted my phone yesterday, and the same issue is back.
Please, all you other One X + owners out there, tell us if you see this too, or if our phones are defective and need to be repaired.

I’ve had a UK set in UK on Vodafone for a couple of weeks. 2 problems, listed elsewhere, one with sync manager and another with storage. However wifi was working well up until tonight. Now keeps searching for wifi and says good signal but can’t lock on and carries on searching. Have tried rebooting phone and router but won’t stay locked to wifi. Any help appreciated.

I’m looking to get a HTC one x+ in three days time. I hope this issue isnt as bad as everyone makes out. I kinda need good WiFi lol. Hope someone can re-asure me that it will get fixed or something. Thanks
Edit: I got it today and it connected fine to my WiFi today. I’ll monitor its behavior in the next few days.
Managed to get 750MB of data with it though if wifi does play up as a backup.
Luckily I have 15GB of data on my Flyer thanks to 3 so I won’t have much issues if I need the internet for emergencies lmao!

Have sorted this problem 100% — many thanks to El presidente on One X forum. you need to switch to a static IP address. If not sure how go into settings > wifi then click on the wifi point you want, click show advanced options then switch ip settings to static. If this isn’t shown, disconnect from your wifi point, put in an incorrect password, then go in again with correct password and at this point you should be able to see the advanced options and set the static ip.
This has revolutionised my wifi usage, hope it does the same for you!
