Disable notifications in MATE desktop

Does anyone know how to disable desktop notifications in MATE desktop?.

I think the OP is talking about popups from Mate, not a browser.

I searched but can’t find a way to turn it off.

Use this command in the Terminal:
gsettings set org.mate.caja.preferences show-notifications false

To reverse: gsettings set org.mate.caja.preferences show-notifications true

Or if you prefer using a GUI, install dconf Editor: apt install dconf-editor

Open the program and go to /org/mate/caja/preferences and change the setting for show-notifications to OFF.

That’s right, they are the mate desktop notifications, not browsers.

Ok, thanks. But, this setting is only for Caja or for all notifications?.

Only for Caja. Disabling all desktop notifications is not easily possible in the MATE version distributed with Linux Mint. You could delete the notifications service:

sudo rm -v /usr/share/dbus-1/services/org.freedesktop.mate.Notifications.service

but it will come back with updates to the package.

If you’re running the latest MATE (i.e. not Mint’s version) then you can disable them via the Popup Notifications tool in the menu:

Maybe in Linux Mint 20.

Thanks you. I use Arch Linux with Mate Desktop 1.22.2. I don’t have that option.

As I said, it’s a recent addition, older MATE releases don’t have it. Just remove the service as I suggested, should be in the same place on Arch.

And next time best ask in the Arch forums instead of the Linux Mint forums.

Yes!. I asked too but they still don’t answer, but I thought it was a common feature of any distro In MATE, hahaha!.

PS: I have several VMs running on Linux systems with the Mate DE at work. These machines auto-start the VMs at boot and run it full-screen so the habitual Win users are happy (in fact, they don’t even know). The VMs are Win 10 machines that must have access to attached Dymo printers. Everything works but, at startup, a notification about a missing printer driver confuses the hapless users. Fortunately, after the VM fully starts, the notification goes away.

Linux Mint: как настроить параметры уведомлений

Уведомления — полезная часть многих цифровых систем; они помогают держать вас в курсе любых изменений или предупреждений. По умолчанию в Linux Mint уведомления появляются в виде всплывающих окон в правом верхнем углу и остаются до тех пор, пока они не будут закрыты.

Чтобы настроить параметры уведомлений в Linux Mint, нажмите клавишу Super, затем введите «Уведомления» и нажмите Enter.

Совет. Клавиша «Super» — это имя, которое многие дистрибутивы Linux используют для обозначения клавиши Windows или клавиши Apple «Command», избегая при этом любого риска проблем с торговыми марками.

Существует три основных параметра уведомлений: «Включить уведомления», «Удалить уведомления по истечении времени ожидания» и «Показывать уведомления в нижней части экрана».

«Включить уведомления» позволяет отключить все уведомления, если вы не хотите их видеть.

Все уведомления автоматически закрываются и по прошествии определенного времени перемещаются в системный трей. «Удалить уведомления по истечении их тайм-аута» автоматически удаляет эти уведомления из панели задач через определенное время. «Показывать уведомления в нижней части экрана» перемещает пузыри уведомлений из правого верхнего угла в правый нижний угол экрана.

Если вы хотите увидеть пример уведомления, вы можете нажать «Показать тестовое уведомление». Если вы хотите настроить размер мультимедийных клавиш в уведомлениях, вы можете использовать раскрывающееся окно «Размер экранного меню мультимедийных ключей».

Примечание. Параметры размера экранного меню клавиш мультимедиа не оказали никакого влияния на версию Linux Mint, которую мы тестировали; ваш пробег может отличаться.

К сожалению, есть второе место, где хранятся некоторые настройки уведомлений. Чтобы получить доступ к этим настройкам, нажмите клавишу Super, затем введите «Апплеты» и нажмите Enter. Отключить уведомления linux mint

Вправом нижнем углу gui оболочки появляется информер новостей , откуда он взялся я честно говоря непомню скорее всего при установке всего дистрибутива.
Появляются раздные новостные сообщения при нажатии на них можно перейти непосредственно на сайт откуда это сообщение взято.
