Note: Parallels Desktop for Mac emulates PC hardware, so operating systems that are not present in this list can work as well. You can download the Parallels Desktop trial and install an operating system of your choice. If it doesn’t work and you believe it should be supported, let us know at Parallels Forum. Parallels Tools for Linux require X Window System version 1.15-1.20 and Linux Kernel version 3.1-6.3.

Moving Your PC?

You can move your files from Windows PC using Apple Migration Assistant.
To move your Windows apps, you can use the Parallels Transporter feature.

Note: Parallels Transporter is not available for Mac with Apple M-series chips.

PC system requirements to move your PC to your Intel Mac (using Parallels Transporter Agent):

• 700 MHz (or higher) x86 or x64 processor (Intel or AMD)
• 256 MB of RAM
• 50 MB of available hard disk space for installation of Parallels Transporter Agent
• Ethernet or WiFi network adapter for migrating over network
• External USB drive for migrating via external disk
• Supported Windows: Windows 10, Windows 8.1, Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP, Windows Server 2003 and Windows 2000 *
• * To migrate Windows Vista or older, Transporter Agent from Parallels Desktop 13 should be used.

Information

This page has instructions on installing Linux Mint on your Mac for the first time to use with Parallels Desktop.

Resolution

1. Obtain Linux Mint installation .ISO image file. The easiest way to obtain Linux Mint installation source is to download an installation .ISO image from either the official Linux Mint web page.
2. Start Parallels Desktop, then click File > New
3. Choose «Install Windows or another OS from a DVD or and image file», then click Continue
4. Choose Linux Mint from the list of the operating system sources found on your Mac (or wait till the image will be automatically recognized), then click Continue.
5. Specify the name and location of your Virtual machine or leave the default settings, then click Continue
6. Virtual machine will start booting Linux Mint installation
7. Proceed with installation. Once installation is complete, restart Linux VM
8. Update Linux Mint environment to the latest version. Also make sure that essential packages are installed as well. Log into your Linux Mint VM, then go to Terminal, then copy and execute the following commands one by one: IMPORTANT: Before installing Parallels Tools and/or updating Linux Mint VM we recommend to create a fresh snapshot for your Linux Mint Virtual Machine (VM).

sudo apt-get clean sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get upgrade -y sudo apt-get dist-upgrade -y sudo apt-get install dkms kpartx printer-driver-postscript-hp 

Restart Linux Mint VM.

Launch Parallels Tools installation:

Restart Linux Mint VM.

That’s it. Parallels Tools are now installed for your Linux Mint VM.

IMPORTANT: In order to be able to use Coherence view mode in Linux Mint Vm, please check Disabling Desktop Visual Effects in Linux virtual machines

Installation Procedure — GUI

Installation via GUI is only valid on DEB and RPM versions.

• Download package from parallels.com/products/ras/download/links/ and store it locally.
• Install package using the default package installer.

Installation Procedures — CLI

DEB Version

• Download the deb package from parallels.com/products/ras/download/links/ and store it locally.
• Switch to the root user.
• To install type:

Note — If the installation fails because of missing dependencies, try installing these dependencies using the following command :

cd /opt/2X/Client/bin ./appserverclient -? 

RPM Version

• Download the rpm package from parallels.com/products/ras/download/links/ and store it locally.
• Switch to the root user.
• Input command as per below example depending on Client version you would like to install:

rpm –ivh RASClient-xx.xx.xxxx_x86_x64.rpm 

yum install RASClient-xx.xx.xxxx_x86_x64.rpm

Client for Linux binaries are now installed under:

cd /opt/2X/Client/bin ./appserverclient -? 

.TAR.BZ2 Version

• Download the tar package from parallels.com/products/ras/download/links/ and store it locally.
• Switch to the root user.
• Switch to the directory containing Parallels Client, e.g.:

tar jxvf RASClient.tar.bz2 -C / 

cd /opt/2X/Client/bin ./appserverclient -? 

SSO (Single Sign On) Installation Procedures

Depending on the package used to install the Client, the SSO installation procedure may vary:

Already available with Client package:

• TAR package — Run script at location /opt/2X/Client/scripts/install.sh.
• RPM package — Manual installation is required.

Separate package to Client:

• Debian package — Requires Client pre-installed. Install package using the default package installer.

Manual installation procedure (RPM Required)

• Install pam_2xclient.so module to have Single Sign On for Client. Note — this file is located under /opt/2X/Client/lib/security/pam_2xclient.so no matter the package used.
• The module always returns true and will use an authentication token that will be provided by a higher authentication module. Note: When a higher authentication module has been configured to SUFFICIENT, it will return on success immediately and pam_2Xclient.so won’t be called. Please change SUFFICIENT TO REQUIRED.
• To install Client PAM module, add two lines to your session manage service (eg. /etc/pam d/gdm):

auth optional pam_2xclient.so password optional pam_2xclient.so

1) Берем установочный файл образа .ISO Linux Mint.

загрузите установочный образ .ISO с официальной веб-страницы Linux Mint.
https://www.linuxmint.com/download.php

2) Запускаем Parallels Desktop,
затем нажмите Файл> Создать

3) Выбераем «Установить Windows или другую ОС с DVD или файла образа»,
затем нажмите «Продолжить»

4) Выберите Linux Mint из списка источников операционной системы,
найденных на вашем Mac (или подождите, пока изображение будет автоматически распознано),
затем нажмите «Продолжить».

5) Указываем имя и местоположение вашей виртуальной машины,
затем нажмите «Продолжить».

6) Виртуальная машина начнет загрузку установки Linux Mint

После завершения установки перезапускаем виртуальную машину Linux.

Обновляем среду Linux Mint до последней версии. Также убедитесь, что установлены необходимые пакеты.
Войдите в свою виртуальную машину Linux Mint, затем перейдите в Терминал, затем скопируйте и выполните следующие команды одну за другой:

sudo apt-get clean sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get upgrade -y sudo apt-get dist-upgrade -y sudo apt-get install dkms kpartx printer-driver-postscript-hp 

9) Перезагружаем виртуальную машину Linux Mint.
