Firmware
A firmware update can resolve issues that the previous firmware version may have and improve its current performance.
To Upgrade
IMPORTANT: To prevent upgrade failures, please read the following before proceeding with the upgrade process
- Please verify the hardware version of your device for the firmware version. Wrong firmware upgrade may damage your device and void the warranty. （ Normally V1.x=V1）
It is NOT suggested to upgrade firmware which is not for your region. Please click here to choose your own region and download the most suitable firmware version. ( eg. the firmware of EU and US are different hardware versions) - Do NOT turn off the power during the upgrade process, as it may cause permanent damage to the product.
- Do NOT upgrade the firmware through wireless connection unless the TP-Link device only has wireless connection.
- It’s recommended that users stop all Internet applications on the computer, or simply disconnect Internet line from the device before the upgrade.
- Use decompression software such as WinZIP or WinRAR to extract the file you download before the upgrade.
Modifications and Bug Fixes:
New Features/Enhancement：
1. Added support for Tether APP version 2.2.0 and above.
2. Improved the stability and performance with multicast streaming.
Bug Fixed：
1.Fixed the security bug caused by overflowing of kcodes buffer;
2.Fixed the bug that the WAN connection speed will dropped down after running the router for about a week.
3.Fixed the bug that TL-WR3600 cannot establish WDS connection in 5G band when the 5G wireless signals of the front-end device which was not broadcasted.

2.Fixed the bug that assign DNS Server manually in Dynamic IP mode on web,but Tether displays the ISP’s DNS;

(3)Added a new login domain “tplinkwifi.net” for web-based management and «tplinklogin.net»is still available;
(4)Added the support for multiplayer online gaming with XBOX;
(5)Improved security mechanism;
(6)Improved the UPNP module function;
(7)Improved the RTSP ALG function. - Bug Fixed：
(1)Users cannot login by remote management in PPPoE connection;
(2)PS3 may not detect the router as a UPnP device;
(3)DynDNS does not update properly occasionally;
(4)Some minor issues with IPv6;
(5)The USB Storage is not accessible when «Access shared storage with password» is enabled;
(6).The sent packets of wireless statistics is always 0;
(7)Cannot play the file through media server if the name includes special character.
For TL-WDR3600 V1
The router will reset after upgrading this firmware.
The configure file of old firmware cannot be used in this firmware.
To Use Third Party Firmware In TP-Link Products
Some official firmware of TP-Link products can be replaced by the third party firmware such as DD-WRT. TP-Link is not obligated to provide any maintenance or support for it, and does not guarantee the performance and stability of third party firmware. Damage to the product as a result of using third party firmware will void the product’s warranty.
