After you have found the right Samsung device driver, follow these simple instructions to install it.

1. Check whether you have switched on the printer and make sure that the USB cable is connected.
2. Install the Samsung SCX-3400 driver by selecting the storage location of the software or driver.

Here are the steps to install Samsung printer drivers for MAC OS X –

1. Open the MAC Printer Folder to run the Printer Driver Package Installer. If the user receives a notification click ‘OK’ to continue.
2. On the warning dialog click ‘Continue’ and again ‘Continue’ in the printer driver window for starting the installation program.
3. On the ‘Introduction and Read Me Dialog’ click ‘Continue’ and also ‘Agree’ to the terms of use.
4. Close all the applications and on the warning notification dialog click ‘Continue’.
5. Select the place for installing the printer driver and again click ‘Continue’.
6. Now select the installation type and click ‘Continue’.
7. While prompted to start installation click ‘Close’ once completed.
8. Click ‘Print and Scan’ now and list of printer will be shown.
9. Restarting the computer may be required for completing the installation.

Identifying the problem using Device Manager

If the Samsung drivers are outdated, corrupt, or missing, this information will be listed in Device Manager. To open the Device Manager window and to check for this information, perform these steps:

1. Click the Windows logo in your taskbar (located at the extreme left-hand side)
2. Type devmgmt.msc in the Start Search box
3. Press Enter.

Чтобы в Ubuntu (Linux Mint) заработало устройство Samsung SCX-3400 требуется лишь произвести пару действий. После этого все должно заработать как положено. Работоспособность принтера испытывается путем распечатывания проверочной страницы, а сканера — сканированием любого материала.

Для принтера: в Ubuntu 14.04, а также в Linux Mint 17 драйвер уже присутствует в дистрибутиве. Однако, если вы по какой-либо причине не можете его установить или именно у вас его нет — не беда, можно установить сторонний.

Итак:

А. Проверьте есть ли драйвер и установите его. Для этого найдите в системном меню «Принтеры» или напечатайте в терминале «system-config-printer» (без кавычек; проверено в XFCE):

Все, можно работать. А если же драйвер для устройства Samsung SCX-3400 не обнаружился — переходите к пункту Б.

Б. Если драйвер всё же не предустановлен, то скачайте его на странице http://www.bchemnet.com (выберите самый верхний из списка) или скачайте по моей ссылке на Яндекс.Диске, или на Mediafire.com (15MB) — (2.05.2016 г.). Затем, извлеките архив куда-либо и запустите командную строку из распакованной папки «uld». Введите команду: sudo ./install-printer.sh

Однако, будьте внимательны, прокручивая «Соглашение об использовании» при помощи кнопки «Enter» — сбавьте обороты примерно на 9-ом пункте, чтобы не пропустить тот миг, когда потребуется нажать подтверждение:

Для сканера: эту длинную команду нужно выполнить в терминале. За потёртые системные файлы я ответственности не несу 🙂 Можно ручаться, что в издании Ubuntu 16.04 сканер работает из коробки (а может быть и в предыдущем номере 15.10, к сожалению, это не было испытано).

После перезапустите сеанс. Теперь должен заработать и сканер.
