Samsung monitor driver
Post by Russell55 » Fri Dec 14, 2018 12:22 am
Hi everyone. Newbie here running LM 19 Cinnamon on my HP Pavilion dv6 notebook and looking for a Linux driver for Samsung C24B550U (2nd) monitor. Came across this site – LINUX-DRIVERS.NET but can’t get any manufactures models to work including the one I want??
Is anyone else having troubles with this site or is it just me?
Thanks.

I have never owned a monitor that required special drivers, but then I may have been living under a rock all my life. All the monitors I’ve owned would work with anything that had the appropriate interface: VGA, DVI, HDMI, whatever. So I searched for that monitor and apparently drivers are only needed for something called SmartStation, and apparently Samsung only provides drivers for Windows. I assume that if you don’t need to use the SmartStation features, it should work with just about anything with the appropriate video interface.

Thanks for your time jimallyn. This model is a SmartStation and worked well previously via USB. Since loading Linux nothing. An update at start-up today seems to have had some effect. Desktop is now visible via HDMI as indicated by the hub menu but I can’t set my Samsung scn as the primary.
I’ll have a play and see what happens – won’t change to ‘solved just yet.
Again my thanks.
