Where is skype share screen?
I share my screen every Sunday when my family and I have a Skype video call. When Ubuntu asked if I wanted to upgrade from 20 to 22, I hit OK and away we went. Except on Sunday, there was no screen sharing available on Skype. I wonder if it has to do with the changes they made to ‘print screen’ — when you used to hit the print screen key it would take a snapshot of the screen, but now it doesn’t.
Anyway, I asked on Skype and the reply I got was they asked if I had recently upgraded Ubuntu. So I thought I’d ask here. Thanks
Try using Xorg instead of Wayland. To do this log out and click your name to log back in. Before entering password, click on the gear icon and select the Xorg option.
I did that, great new information. I wish Skype had a way to test that out before you were on a call. That is, unless you are on a call the video screen isn’t there so I can’t see if I have a screen sharing option or not.
I will have to wait till tomorrow when I make my call to the family. I just wondered why the xorg changes the colors in firefox. usually the menubar and other things like that that surround the window, usually they are white, but now they are a pistachio green and firefox doesn’t have a setting to change that that i can find.
No, I use the stand alone slype. I just noticed that in firefox and everything else, the windows are bound with that green color. i didn’t see a way to change the settings in Ubuntu. Is there a way to change that? Someone had to tell Ubuntu to make the windows look like that.
How can I share my screen with Skype for Linux 5.3?
How can I share my screen via Skype 5.3? The “+” menu contains only two item: adding another communication participant and changing the audio and video settings. Nothing about screen sharing. Is this feature still not implemented? This would be very bad, as screen sharing is crucial for me, and Skype 4.3 will stop working in 3 days.
Since this was posted, the Microsoft Skype has been caught up to match Skype for Windows in features and appearance. Has anyone tested this recently, to add new answers?
Screen sharing has been working for me for quite some time now. I’m using the current Skype for Linux 8.51.

Can you guys confirm Skype still doesn’t support desktop sharing? Does Google Hangouts support desktop sharing?
Currently, terrible situation for Skype users with Linux. 16th Nov 2017, and today’s skypeforlinux 8.10.0.4 does not support screen sharing, after skype 4.3 cutout.
Today (August 2018) the linux client does not seem to be able to share the screen. At least I could not find a way to share my screen. I am unsure if it is possible to view the screen of an other skype user (who uses Windows).
https://appear.in/ now being replaced by https://whereby.com/ works for me on linux (fedora) in firefox, opera and google-chrome. It includes screen sharing, and in my experience is simpler and more effective than skypeforlinux. It uses peer to peer connections. I can’t comment on security. It’s free for basic use, but more facilities are available to subscribers who pay. I’ve used only the free service, including giving remote lectures with questions from the audience.
