you can use the inter font from google fonts for better compatibilty (looks v similar to this and 100% legal)

these are the fonts used throught all modern apple systems (macos, ios, etc.)

i made this just because i was tired of having to sign into my onedrive every time i needed one of these

the San Francisco folder contains every SF style .otf file

the New York folder contains every NY style .otf file

this method works across most OSes/distros

download the zip (you dont have to extract the files depending on your os but you can if you want to)

open an .otf file (double-click)

repeat for all desired files

using an account with administrative privileges is recommended

download the zip and extract its contents

copy all desired .otf font files (not the folders) into C:/Windows/Fonts

download the zip and extract its contents

double click on an .otf file

repeat this for every font desired

method 3 (not recommended — windows 10 only)

download the zip and extract its contents

go to personalisation and select the fonts tab

drag and drop all appropriate .otf font files into this section:

the installation method is different for all distributions, but this is the most common

open a terminal (usually ctrl+alt+t) and type:

git clone https://github.com/froggeboi/macfonts.git

(if ~/.fonts does not exist, use mkdir ~/.fonts to create it)

please refer to your linux distro’s documentation for proper installation instructions — this is just what i think should work based off of what ive seen)

download the fonts you want

install the .dmg file(s) (i dont know how)

i am not associated or affiliated in any way with Apple, Inc.

these fonts are created by Apple and i am simply here to pass them onto you

also i used 7-zip to extract files from the official .dmg files that Apple supplies (for free)

Arch Linux User Repository

@abdulhakeem I also ran into this issue, because I didn’t have svn installed. I fixed it by removing ~/.cache/yay/ttf-mac-fonts after installing svn.

I get this error when trying to install with yay:

install: cannot stat ‘gbk/*.ttf’: No such file or directory

@Enzo et all, this package is not out of date, it installs the latest version available upstream. In fact it’s setup to check whatever than version is and update itself at build time if there are any changes. I just checked and it is fully up to date and installs what it says it does.

@Feakster That script is a whole lot of hoopla for less than nothing. Those other fonts don’t belong in this package since they come from different sources, are versioned and released on a different cycle, and don’t even have the same license. If you want them, install them from their respective packages: otf-new-york and otf-san-francisco-pro.

@caleb, the New York & San Francisco fonts can be obtained from https://developer.apple.com/design/downloads. I don’t believe any login is required. I was going to adapt the script (below) into a new PKGBUILD, but you’re more than welcome to cannibalise it for yours if you wish:

When I consult the remote package version I get «20100901.134», but when I consult the local version of the package I get only one point «.». I hope you solve that soon to be able to control the local versions. Thanks in advance.

Как установить шрифты MacOS в Ubuntu?

Я тут ставил темы Bisigi (ppa:bisigi/ppa). Если ставить одним пакетом (bisigi-themes), то около 120 Мб (13 тем). Особо понравилась тема Eco (на мой взгляд).
На вашем сайте вроде не было статьи про темы – вот вам материал для следующей статьи. Хотя в инете уже и есть про Bisigi, но ваш сайт вроде как сборник полезных материалов по настройке линукс-систем. У меня вот почти вся RSS -лента хранится с заголовками статей, удобно когда все в одном месте.
Еще обновился драйвер на сайте Canon

(сейчас уже 2 версия). Настраивал тут LBP -810 – работает!

MacOS like Fonts on Manjaro/Arch Linux

Either you love gorgeous typography or just don’t care. If you are the former read ahead on how to make the font rendering on your Linux look just as awesome as that on macOS, else read on to find out what beauty you have been missing.

I switched to a hackintosh for a while and fell in love with how beautiful the typography was. After returning to Linux and some fiddiling around I came across a not so ugly setup that looked close enough to macOS. So if you want to make your Linux Distro a tad bit typographically better, follow along.

Results

This is how the fonts look on the default installation of Manjaro Linux.

This is how they would look after we are done.

Some Pointers

Rather than copy pasting everything on here, let’s try to understand why the fonts on macOS looks better than the ones we have on Linux.

Fonts belong to certain types.

• sans-serif : Well the sans fonts on your computer. The regular plain fonts.
• serif : The fonts that look like they came out of a 14th century Bible. You know with the curves and they look like showoffs.
• monospace : The typical code font. The ones where every character is the same width.

The reason fonts look way better on macOS is because Steve Jobs loved typography, and he went the extra mile and licensed some great typefaces for each font type, and recently Apple put in the extra effort to make their custom fonts even better. Well fret not Linux has some free fonts that are metric compatible(means they look awfully similar), and better that we can substitute for fonts.

Installation

Step one is installing the fonts that look similar or better than the ones on macOS. All the fonts that are used here can be found on the Arch Repositories, and on Google Fonts. You are free to replace everything with the ones you find great.

• sans-serif : tex-gyre-fonts, free alternative to Helvetica and Arial and looks really really similar
• serif : Libertinus Serif, suprisingly looks really great
• monospace : DM Mono from Google Fonts, for monospace fonts that look great
• emoji : noto-fonts-emoji, get some colorful emojis

If you are using Manjaro or Arch here is the command to get all fonts in one go.

yay -S tex-gyre-fonts otf-libertinus noto-fonts-emoji

Font Setup

Everything about fonts can be configured from a single file located at /etc/fonts/local.conf if the file doesn’t exist create it. You do require sudo for it.

sudo nvim /etc/fonts/local.conf

After you are editing the file copy paste everything here.

What this file does that is it creates aliases for the common fonts used on the web and uses the metric compatible fonts that we have. That way we have way better looking fonts.

After you have done all this, restart your computer to see the changes.

Chrome

If you are using chrome, you can do something more too.

• Goto Settings
• Select Customize Fonts under Appearences
• Set Standard to Libertinus Serif
• Set Serif to Libertinus Serif
• Set Sans-serif to TeX Gyre Heros
• Set Fixed-width to Monospace

Interface Text

For Desktop Environments like Gnome and KDE, you could use Tex-Gyre-Heros for the overall Helvetica look. I use Gnome 3.36 and use TeX Gyre Heros Regular 10 as my interface text.

That’s all set, and keep in mind this guide will be improved.
