Bluetooth connections for Android TV and Google TV

This page provides basic information, connection assistance, and some troubleshooting information for Bluetooth® connections with an Android TV™ or Google TV™.

Basic information

For instructions on how to pair your TV with a Bluetooth device and information on supported Bluetooth profiles, refer to the Help Guide or product manual. Manuals are posted on your model support page.

Connection with audio devices (headphones, speakers, and soundbars)

TVs that support the A2DP Bluetooth profile can connect with Bluetooth audio devices such as headphones or speakers. For compatibility information, refer to the following article:

Note: TVs released in 2016 and earlier don’t support Bluetooth connections with audio devices.

Connection with remote controls and other devices

    Can I use Bluetooth headphones, speakers, and soundbars with my Android TV or Google TV?

    You can connect Bluetooth® devices such as headphones or speakers and enjoy TV sound through those devices if the TV supports the Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP). Check the device specifications, TV settings, or compatible model list for more information.

    Note: We don’t guarantee operation with all Bluetooth audio devices.

    Check the device specifications

    Check the specifications of your device on the model support page to confirm if your TV and headphones, speakers, or soundbar supports the A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile) Bluetooth profile.

    Check the TV settings

    Confirm whether A/V sync is available in the TV settings menu. If it is, your model supports Bluetooth headphones.

    • Using a remote control with a or (Quick Settings) button:
      1. Press the Quick Settings button, then select SettingsDisplay & SoundAudio output.
      2. Check if A/V sync is available.
    • Using a remote control with a Home button:
      1. Press the HOME button, then select Settings.
      2. The following steps will depend on your TV menu options:
        • Select Display & SoundAudio output.
        • Select Sound.

        Check the compatible model list

        The models listed below are compatible with Bluetooth connections. Make sure that your model is listed.

        2023 TV series

        The following TV models are confirmed to work with the following Bluetooth audio devices such as Headphones, Neckband Speakers, and Soundbars.

          • You can enjoy the Stereo Pair function by connecting the TV with two wireless speakers. (The SRS-RA5000 and SRS-RA3000 don’t support the Stereo Pair function.)
          • Audio delay, choppy sound, or a decreased recognition rate on the remote control’s microphone may occur when connecting the TV with multiple wireless speakers via the Party Connect function. (The SRS-RA5000 and SRS-RA3000 don’t support the Party Connect function.)
        1. (*2): To use this feature, update the Headphones to the latest software (version after March 10, 2022).
        2. (3*) Update the Wireless speaker to the latest software. (version after April 25, 2023).

        2022 TV series (other than X74K_X75K and W8K series)

        The following TV models are confirmed to work with the following Bluetooth audio devices such as Headphones, Neckband Speakers, and Soundbars.

          • You can enjoy the Stereo Pair function by connecting the TV with two wireless speakers. (The SRS-RA5000 and SRS-RA3000 don’t support the Stereo Pair function.)
          • Audio delay, choppy sound, or a decreased recognition rate on the remote control’s microphone may occur when connecting the TV with multiple wireless speakers via the Party Connect function. (The SRS-RA5000 and SRS-RA3000 don’t support the Party Connect function.)
        1. (2*) To use this feature, update the Headphones to the latest software (version after March 10, 2022).
        2. (3*) Update the Wireless speaker to the latest software. (version after April 25, 2023).

        2022 TV series (X75K series)

        The X75K series is confirmed to work with the following Bluetooth audio devices as Headphones and Soundbars.

        2021 TV series

        The following TV models are confirmed to work with the listed Bluetooth audio devices, such as headphones, Neckband Speakers, and soundbars:

        1. (*2)
          • You can enjoy the Stereo Pair function by connecting the TV with two wireless speakers. (The SRS-RA5000 and SRS-RA3000 don’t support the Stereo Pair function.)
          • Audio delay, choppy sound, or a decreased recognition rate on the remote control’s microphone may occur when connecting the TV with multiple wireless speakers via the Party Connect function. (The SRS-RA5000 and SRS-RA3000 don’t support the Party Connect function.)
        2. (*3) To use this feature, update the Headphones to the latest software (version after March 10, 2022).
        3. (*4) Update the Wireless speaker to the latest software. (version after April 25, 2023).

        2020 TV series

        The following TV models are confirmed to work with the listed Bluetooth audio devices, such as headphones, Neckband Speakers, and soundbars:

          • You can enjoy the Stereo Pair function by connecting the TV with two wireless speakers. (The SRS-RA5000 and SRS-RA3000 don’t support the Stereo Pair function.)
          • Audio delay, choppy sound, or a decreased recognition rate on the remote control’s microphone may occur when connecting the TV with multiple wireless speakers via the Party Connect function. (The SRS-RA5000 and SRS-RA3000 don’t support the Party Connect function.)
        1. (2*) To use this feature, update the Headphones to the latest software version (after March 10, 2022).
        2. (3*) Update the Wireless speaker to the latest software. (version after April 25, 2023).

        2019 TV series or before

        • Make sure your TV and other audio device have the latest software update
        • Only one Bluetooth® audio device can be connected to the TV at a time. It is possible to connect Bluetooth devices other than the Bluetooth audio device at the same time.
        • The codec used when transmitting the Bluetooth audio device is SBC (Sub-Band Coding) (LDAC, AAC, aptX, eSBC, etc., are not supported.)
        • Depending on the TV app used, or the Bluetooth audio device connected, some app operations performed from the Bluetooth audio device may not work. In such cases, use the TV remote control to operate the app.
